Fuse pull for low octane fuel fix

Ok I have read the sticky on the low octane fuel fix for the L99 (pull #5 & 20 15 amp fuses) actually i'm only on page 18 out of 53 pages but I digress...
My question is this, that thread was started in Aug of 2009, is this still an issue or has GM corrected this problem now that we're in 2011?

1. Do I still need to be concerned if the dealer put in 87 for that first tank of gas? (which I'm only halfway through)

2. From what I've read in the sticky the fuse pull is only a temporary fix. By temproary do we mean it reverts on its own? (if so after how long?) or only if 87 is mistakenly used again?

3. A tune will correct the problem completely? (even if 87 is mistakenly used?)

4. would the fuse pull smooth out the AFM? I know its suppose to be unnoticable but I can feel the difference.

A 2 year old problem should be corrected in the 2011 models, yes?

Thanks for your time.

Good questions Kman. I was actually about to make a thread asking some of these questions myself, as I'm still not clear on what the deal is after skimming that thread earlier.

1) It is still an issue on all V8's, 2010 and 2011.

2) It won't go back to the low octane table unless you use 87 again.

3) Not sure...I'm sure the low octane thing can be removed...someone will answer for sure.

4) Only a tune can get the AFM off.

Here is the latest info I got concerning the fuse pull.

Bottom line, YES it's still an issue. Or is it a non-issue.

It's the way GM wants it. For whatever reason they want it this way. I'm guessing less warranty needs the more handicapped the car is. 95% of SS owners will never know their car is underperforming. I KNEW. As did some other on here. We got a resolution, but not before we figured it out on our own. In my sig is the GM TSB for the fuse pull. You can go to the dealer, but it's quicker and easier to just do it yourself.

I've replaced my fuse block and I still have A check engine light, I think I'm going to try this out in the morning. I'll let you guys know if it works for me.

PQ,

It is not even 95% of the car. Before GM figured out the issue working on my car a V-6 Camaro beat my SS by 3/4 a car length. Do to the wieght of the SS over the V-6 the V-6 is quicker when the V-8 is in low octane table. You have to remember the 0-60 times we recorded where in the high 6 second low 7 second when the V-6 can do 6 second or slightly less.

I did the fuse pull last night just because I ran out all the dealer fuel and had premium in the car. It is very simple to do. Do it once and keep premium in the car and you should never have to do it again.

Is premium put in from the factory? The car has just a tiny bit of gas in it when delivered but I made sure the dealer put in premium. Should I be OK? I'll probably do a pull at some point anyway but curious.

Probably. My PM box blew up with thatnk yous and appologies. LOL

But had you not called me with the idea, GM was only a week behind us. However, the customer has to complain about low acceleration in order for the dealer to mess with it. So, ya, might even be higher than that of unmoded cars.
