Question Rough idle all the time!!

I own a 2011 2SS/RS and it has idled rough non-stop since the day I got it. It also seems to hesitate/stutter when I step on the gas. The dealer told me it would smooth out but I've got some miles on it now and it's not getting any better. I took it to the dealer for a check up and 4 hrs later they told me that the rough idle is normal because it's got the big motor.

Is this true?

Does everyone else with the 2SS have the same rough idle?

Help!!

Thank you.
Susan

The V6 has a dead spot in the acceleration but the LS3 should be smooth. You have an issue for certain. PM Jeff the GM customer service rep on here...he should be able to help. The few crappy dealers give them all a black eye and thats not fair to the dealers providing good service.

no offense Susan, please don't take this in the wrong way but...

Did you not notice this during the testdrive? One should always testdrive multiple vehicles, with no radio on....if the dealer comes for the ride, shut him/her up..... drive the car and try and notice these types of issue or funny sounds.....

we often tend to think that new cars should and will be flawless.... but I say test drive them thoroughly with suspicion..... anyways, I hope your issue can get resolved...

chances are the dealer put low octane cheapo gas.....hope its that simple..

A little roughness is normal. You should feel the car shake a bit every 1-2 seconds because it is a big high performance engine after all. Perhaps yours is rougher than that. The hesitation is not normal.

mine shakes too. Something you can do.. go to a couple of dealers and test drive a couple of SS's. See if they're all the same. This way, you'll know what's normal.

L99s are smoother than LS3s, LS3s has the real LS v8 engine feel and sound, however sounds like yours might be worse. Sorry to hear.

John Deere Boy stated it well. I had the same concern about mine when I first bought it because I didn't really notice a rough idle on the first cars that I drove but the dealer did state that this is normal idle for the LS3. So I most likely just didn't notice it on the others cars. Is your idle the normal rough idle...hard for us to say. That being said, my car does not stumble or hesitate. When I accelerate...it pulls like a Budweiser Clydesdale.
