Normal Manifold vacuum pressure?
I was testing out the latest version of Torque, the Android app that can read the ODBII. During normal driving, I have a vacuum reading of 16 to 34 or so. When I tested acceleration, I was expecting this to drop very close to 0.
Instead, I saw the needle swing past 0 and start going into the boost side of the guage. It went over 5, maybe close to 10. Now, I know this is NOT PSI, but the inches of mercury measurement, so this wasn't turbo-/supercharger territory, but it was still a positive manifold pressure. For those of you with more advanced/dedicated ODB readers who datalog: is this normal? From my memories of the old carburated days, you got best gas mileage at high vacuum, but I don't remember EVER hearing about positive manifold pressure with just NA. But that was a few years ago so I might have just forgotten. So I'm trying to figure this out and hoping someone can shed some light on this. Is the App just screwed up or are those the normal numbers for heavy throttle acceleration?
