I don't understand

Why people pay 500 to a grand on exhaust when all I see on this forum is people saying they don't add any hp or whatever. So why don't people buy aero mrt mufflers and get them welded for 150? Why spend a grand on zoomers? Just because they bolt right on? Please help me understand why people spend all this money on catbacks?

The MRT mufflers sound great too. The only reason I can see getting a cat-back is that you don't have to cut the original pipes and can return it to stock very easily.

I prefered the sound of SOLO over the MRTs. If it wasnt for SOLO, I wouldve went with the MRTs but I just cant get enough of my SOLO. Love them

sorry... but you've been babbling on about this subject for what two weeks now? Why are you so worried how people spend there money? Get over it... people will spend their money how THEY want to... Not how YOU want them to! If everyone was so worried about saving a few dollars, they wouldn't be driving a Camaro.... they would be driving a used, econo-sh*t box, getting 40+ MPG...

And yes, people have have done exactly what you suggest, just buy mufflers and have a shop fab up an exhaust for them... maybe they save a few dollars... maybe they don't... do they get things like 304 stainless steel? Do they get mandrel bent tubing? Probably not... But it's THEIR money and THEIR car!

The fact is an aftermarket exhaust will add some HP, slight but still there, weighs a LOT less than stock, LOOKS a lot better than those horrid suitcases and sounds BETTER than stock!

Like I said, you've brought this up in a few other threads... now you've started a separate one... ok... you've said your peace... can you be done now?

exactly... most of the local shops around here don't even carry stainless tubing, let alone stainless rod for hangers... All they have is the aluminized crap...

I did a custom and definately saved a few bucks and love it, but would never think anything wrong with spending more. If it is the sound that you want then buy it.

Then there is the issue of going to the local shop and getting something untried and untested. Driving around for a few days, and claiming it does not sound good. Then doing it again. Why not just spend more money up front on the fact that people and companies have spent on R&D to get a system worked out for you. I have read about people who are now on there third system for reason of satisfaction.

Yes this. SOLO installed and it is so much lighter than the stock sytem I not only replaced but hauled off to the junkjard. Don't need it, don't miss it, don't want it back in my sight, ever. If I tire of my current system I'll just buy another one or just buy a new car.

C7 anyone?

Hmmmm.. maybe they did it for the same reason you bought that extremely ugly looking hockey stripe on the side of your car that adds zero HP or power?

Troll much?

Be nice . I am sure the person is trying to make a point. I understand the point, I just wouldnt recommend people go out and buy parts to build there own exhaust. Unless that is your profession and like trial and error. Sure I will go out and buy Aero muffler and attempt to build it like MRT. Then if it sounds like crap, its on me to fund another project.

I wonder if AMD has thought of this or NVIDIA for that matter. I mean this thought process could have people building there own computer componants.
