Question Painted interior trim panels?

Who has done this or had it done to their door and dash trim? Do you have pics? If you did it yourself can you describe the process? I want to do mine ABM to match the triple blue theme I am working on with my car. I have a set of cloth covered ones coming in the mail to me next week and I'll paint them first in case I screw up. Does anyone know how hard it is to get that cloth off, what prep work is required before painting, what paint and clearcoat to use...? Since GM doesn't offer any blue interior pieces it looks like it falls on me to get 'er done! Any help is much appreciated, thanks guys!

Painted my panels Summit White. Mine were originally cloth.
Just pulled it right off and cleaned off the glue with some lacquer thinner.

Check out Duplicolor's vinyl interior spray paint. It's nice stuff.

I did the interior of my Vette and I love it. People can't believe it's a DIY project. Most auto parts stores carry it.

I didn't, but it's simple.

Basically just clean the pieces with soap/water to get rid of any grease, silicones, etc.

They say the Duplicolor has adhesion promoter built in so you'll be ready to spray after everything dries.

They have tips here on it http://www.duplicolor.com/products/vinylFabricCoating/

I know you already bought some panels to paint however RPI Designs offers painted panels in ABM along with other colors. Note: You will lose Ambient Panel lighting if so equipped.

I didn't buy the panels thanks to a rather nightmareish bank account hacking I am trying to fix. I don't have ABL, I wish I did. Those panels might be worth another look-- but if I could do it myself cheap and just forget ABL... I dunno. Decisions, decisions. I just have a hard time justifying almost $500 for something I could do for $50.

Very Sorry to hear. Been there and it is pure H E double L .Was lucky to have a great CreditUnion that really helped out. Got 300+ of us at a Restaurant Chain that we use to frequent quite regularly here in FL Didn't know that whole account was drained in just a few minutes and no clue until next day when tried to buy a lb of coffee at Starbucks Embarrassing. Learned a lot though. Hope you get it straightened out ASAP.
Well back OT Keep us posted how your mod works out.Sorry just noticed you were painting fabric panels.Read the whole post dummyLOL
