Shorties CEL?

Will shortie headers make the CEL come on without a tune? Don't turn this into a shorties bashing thread. I live in CA, and my dad already said no to LT, and a tune. But, if they don't cause a CEL, i'll probably get some.

My shorties alone did not cause a cel. When I added the Jba high flow cats I did get a cel.

they shouldnt cause a CEL, but are pretty much not worth the money. maybe if you had more exhaust mod you could add little.

Depends what you want them for.

OP, shorties will not cause a CEL. If you're just going for aesthetics, shorties are fine. If you want more power you're better off investing the money in HF cats. Not sure this if this is an issue as well in CA, but as stated above, JBAs have been known to cause CELs, SOLOs do not. It's all about keeping the rear O2 sensors out of the flow. SOLO provides extenders for this, not sure about JBA.

I ran BBK stainless shorties on my LS3 for 5K miles with no CEL. The ARH and BBK shorties look very similar in design.

Jba shorties no CEL over 1k miles on em. Not to mention incunjuction with the cai and tb we added 36rwhp. Shorties are worth it if u put more air into the engine. Don't believe the bandwagoneers. I saw it on the dyno and with a tune only made 2more hp, 4peak hp but had some knock retard.

+1. My DT shortys definitely made a difference in performance and sound. When I added the Jba mids it got even better. Everyone on here is an expert. My advice, listen to the ones who have ACTUALLY tried the products. :-)

Shorties + High flow cats is a good combo. You'll notice the performance increase without the need for a tune. If you decide to get a tune later on you'll still make good power.

I made 420/425 RWHP/RWTQ with CAI, Shorties, HF Cats, Exhaust, TB

This might be a stupid question, but I dont know the answer. So say I get shorty headers and a cat-back exhaust. How do I connect the exhaust to the headers? Do I need another catalytic convertor? or extra pipes?
