What the hell is a Tata?
Ford is selling Jaguar and Land Rover to an Indian company called Tata Motors. My boss, who owns two Jags, is so mad she is selling both of them swearing that she will never own a foreign car, much less an Indian car. It looks like Ford took a huge hit on the deal too...

A Tata is a small animal usually eaten by Mustangs, since that is all they can catch. The Mustang, in turn, is an animal eaten by Camaro's, which then poops out Tata's. And the cycle of life continues.
It'a startup auto company in India. GM's mini car is their direct competition down there, so I hear. I think they are also responsible for the first production air-powered car. |

I believe Tata actually has some racing links, so they're not exactly a worthless company... but I wouldn't own anything they make and forsee Jaguar and Rover becoming even less valuable in the used car market than they are now... lol

I believe Tata is Indian for POS.
They are pretty much at the same quality level as those Cherys (Chinese) that attempted (and failed miserably) to get a crash rating using the Russian crash tests (they only got 1 star in the Russian tests...NHSTA wouldn't even test them if I remember correctly). Tata Motors..."for just $2500, you too can buy the tin can that you can (and will) be buried in after your accident. For your convenience, upon impact, it collapses around you to make it easier to fit into a standard grave plot." |

That is the first thing I thought of too!
Correction as well. I asked what a tata was, not multiple... so: Tata= (o)? If my logic serves me right... for tatas to actually be sufficient, you need two of them, does that mean that these cars are only halfway sufficient? Or the better question is... Does it really matter with tatas on the mind? |

Does Tata make that car thats glued together? I'm thinking that safety isn't a big issue in countries with over 1 billion people.
Anyway, I feel kinda bad for the British car industry. I don't think they have any independant makers left. Its all owned by outsiders. Its probably a good thing that Ford lost that extra bagage, but I'm surprised that it wasn't one of the Germans that bought them. Anyway, to answer the original question. A Tata is kinda like half a :tweetz:, i suppose that makes it equal to a tweet?

Lotus and Lister are still independently owned British car companies. They may have partners for things, but the companies are still independent.
TVR is also British. The guy that owns them is Russian, and some of the bodies/shells are built in Italy, but the company is British and the final assembly takes place in the UK. |
