Cadillac ATS
Aside from the information that the upcoming Cadillac ATS is a sub-CTS sized car designed to compete against the BMW 1 Series and the upcoming Toyota/Subaru Coupe, is there any information about it yet? Images? I included an image of the "Toyotaru" Coupe (200+hp 4 cylinder).

Toyotaru looks like crap...
![]() The ATS will be Rear-Drive, based on the Alpha platform. Consider it a little sibling to the Zeta chassis carrying the Camaro. It's smaller, lighter, but just as flexible (it can underpin wagons, coupes, sedans, of any size up to mid-sized.) It'll probably carry a high-output 4-cylinder as the base engine, and the LLT as the uplevel engine (or it's replacement at that time). I speculate a "V" series will have a turbo V6 in it. It's supposed to borrow some cues from the CTS, but have distinctive styling itself. Expect pricing to be slightly below the CTS, and this car should become Cadillac's "bread-and-butter" vehicle ala the 3-series to BMW. Disclaimer...all the above (except "rear drive" and "Alpha") is nothing but speculation and rumor. Do not hold me to the above 'data'. |

ATS is built on GM's SWB Alpha RWD platform and will compete with the BMW 3-series and Mercedes Benz C-class. Alpha can be extended and will be extended for the 3rd gen. CTS. No info on powertrains at the time, although it is expected to look very much like a smaller, evolved CTS. And the Toyobaru coupe was reportedly downgraded to 160 HP.

I hate to think of the chaos that will ensue once you move on to OSU, however. Please do promise to visit the forum occasionally and set everyone straight, please!

No shame in liking the "Toyotaru". It will likely get more than 200hp in a 4-banger. Disinformation is all part of the battle. At the 20-25K price range it will sell huge here in the states...both because of the excellent reputation of the primary (Toyota) and because, once again, neither Ford nor GM have a car to answer it (a small, fuel efficient sport coupe).
