I have seen lots of posts about where all the speakers are, but what about the center speaker? What is its function?? I mean its not like we have surround sound... Just wondering what the thought was for it...

Love the system, but will be adding a sub at some point.

believe its on top center of dash panel (above stereo)

...from what I've read.

I also heard (no pun intended) that it's the speaker used when the phone / bluetooth is active, not used for music etc...

It is definately used for music. For some reason even with a 100% system gut and replacement with 3rd party, that center speaker still plays and its loud lol

it is the center channel it has it's own signal, so basically yes it is a full system like a surround sound

I guess that's my question. It seems to be a seperate channel from the information I have seen, but we don't have DVD, so what is the real use?

My wife's SUV has DVD and it is surround and sounds really good actually. But I just don't know why we have 9 speakers, with a center, and no surround. It would make sense if we had a DVD audio option...

I took out the factory amp, so its not used in my car. It did not have a unique signal, so I have not misses it.

its also used mainly for onstar turn by turn its much easier to hear speaking directions from this speaker

Man its there for clartiy, that speaker screams and improves the sound so much more then what it would be without it. You must not be into audio because you don't need or have to have a DVD player to justify surround sound in your car. It improves the sound quality greatly, my brother has owned his own car audio business for 17 years and says that this one of the best sounding factor stereos that he has heard. Of course I'm talking about the BA system.

I do understand car audio, I was just trying to make sure I wasnt missing something. I understand the use of a center speaker and I too am impressed with the system. I am planning on getting a sub once there is a better install available for that. But other than that, I am very happy.
