Rear View Mirror Adjust for better vision.

I heard a lot about poor visibility and blind spots caused by the rear view mirror, so here is what I did.
My LS mirror measures 3 1/4 inch wide top to bottom.

First I pushed the mirror mount extension bar all the way up to the top of the windshield. (It appears GM ships the car with it hanging down).

Then while holding the extension bar up, tilt the mirror down so you can dial in your rear view image and presto, more than an inch of better windshield vision.

After driving mine for just a short period of time I got used to the visibility thing real fast but I'll try this when I get the car back from the 2nd paint shop.

That's awesome! I didn't realize that there was an adjustment there....

To clarify for everyone, he's talking about re-positioning the black piece between the mirror housing and the windshield, not the little tab used for dimming.

Thanks for the tip. I'm short so it really opened up the windshield area for me.

I inverted my mirror to gain even more clearance with a few minor mods. The OnStar controls are now at the top upside down but the incresed visibility was worth the change. I had to remove the plastic cover off the mirror stem and move the wiring harness out of the way.

Works for me.

It helps a little. I did this waaaay back when. One thing that would help immensly is if GM actually made the driver seat able to go lower than its current position by about two to three inches. That would realle make a huge difference.

The mirror is not that stiff at all. I just grabbed the bottom of the mirror and pushed it and the extension bar mount all the way up, then tilted it toward me to get the rear vision.

Thanks man, never thought about trying that. I got about 1.5" more visibility, and at 6'2" it makes a big difference.

I knew it was more than an inch but didn't measure the before and after.
Now we have it an inch and a half, Thanks

Hahaha, I was stopped at a light after leaving work yesterday. While I was sitting there I remembered this post so I reached over and pushed the mirror up. It moved up about an inch like noted here.Re adjusted to see and that was that. Not bad at all, thanks for the tip.
