Winter Tires size

Went to the dealership today to have my windshield replaced. They have been looking for snow tires for my car. I have a 2LT with RS. Dealership tells me that i CANNOT go to down to a size 18.

Can anyone help me out with this

You CAN go down to a 18" wheels and tires if you have the LT. In fact your dealer is clueless.....the standard wheel/tire combo from the FACTORY is 18" (LS/LT) !!!! Just need to buy the wheels and either all season radials or snow tires, get them mounted and swap back over in the spring. Do a search here, there are many threads about snow tires etc. You will find a thread that states what size tire to buy to get the right height so you don't screw up the speed reading on your speedometer.

You can go down to an 18 inch wheel. Just make sure the tire height is the same as it currently is.

I have the RS package w/ 20s on my 1LT and have the 18 inch steel LS wheels with Pirelli snow tires for the winter. I'll swap them out the first day we get snow.

That's a good way to handle it. Me, I just park it for the winter and drive the jeep.

Where did you get the LS wheels? I'd like to do the same with my 2LT.

Try Tire Rack - I don't know if they deliver to Canada, but you can put in your 2010 camaro with package and they will make viable winter tire suggestions. I got a great deal on a wheel/ all season package for my 2SS.

I had my dealer order them the same time I ordered my Camaro. I paid $818. Another local dealer tried to charge me $1300+!

You can also try ebay. There may be some folks who bought an LS and upgraded their wheels.

p.s. Where are you in EL? I'm originally from Okemos and went to State.

Was the $818.00 just wheels, or wheels plus tires, plus tpms, plus lugs?

Tirerack has a set of winter rims and pirelli scorpions for like $1172 without the TPMS. That is another $228 for those.

The parts guy at my dealer was saying it was like $199 per rim without tires, and he was looking into other options.

I work at State actually, and I live up by Lake Lansing Road, and US 127.

the do deliver to canada

i ordered a 18" rim / winter tire combo from them and it came out to around $1700 CDN including shipping and all taxes

Better deal than local tire shops could come up with around me

Wow, I've been looking at some winter tires and the tirerack deal on 18" rims with Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow was just too good to pass up. I did add the TPMS stuff to the order so just about $1600 but considering I was looking at just over $900 from a local discount tire for just all season tires not too bad.

Now I do have one question, this is my first car with a tire pressure system, will I have to do anything after I swap the tires or will the car pickup the new sensors?

The $818 included everything but the tires. I got the Pirellis for an additional $680. Totaling $1489.00 for wheels, tires, TMPS, etc.

Looks like the tirerack set of tires might be the way to go as it is about the same price.

I'm in the college of Business.
