it's a whole body side that includes the door sill and hinge pillar

body shop would likely try to replace as little as possible, would cut whatever piece from a new panel and patch it in, unless you told them otherwise. Personally I'd probably want the whole panel replaced on a brand new car

I don't have the car yet, this June. I'm looking at possible upgrades and changes and the thought of adding functional gills or some type of air inlet has crossed my mind, especially after seeing the modded front fenders by orange10s.c., they look quite a bit easier to install though. I never considered the door sill and hinge pillar, might not be something I really want to tackle.
Thanks for the quick responses .

something like a cosmetic modification would likely just be a patch panel... no need to replace the whole quarter for an area about 10" x 16"

yes - you might want to patch something in. replacing the whole body side would involve lots of tearup and re-weld - structural integrity concerns...

Camaros don't have rear fenders. They are "1/4 panels" because they are welded/part of the unibody. I don't want to nitpick but this always annoys me- Sorry.

"quarter panel" is actually not the official term either... it's "Body Side Outer"
I don't want to nitpick but I'm an engineer - Sorry.
