LS Fog Light Question

I was wondering if you ordered stock fog lamps from the dealer are they pretty much plug and play or do you have to do extra wiring to get them working in the LS bumper? I read another post of a guy that installed fog lamps in his LS, but they weren't OEM and he had to wire an on/off switch next to his head light controlls and I really don't want to do that. Thanks for the help.

The lights are controlled through the BCM, so if the veh didn't come with fog light the dealer can't enable them as of right now. We have a open case with GM on enabling fog lights but haven't heard back from them yet. So the answer is no, you can't just order stock parts and expect them to work. The fuse for the fog lights is in the fuse box and theres and "internal" relay in the fuse box but the BCM will not send out a signal to the relay unless that option can be turned on.

GM just released a PI on this issue. Here is a copy/paste of it.

Quote:
#PIC5287: Adding / Enabling Fog Lamps On A Vehicle Not Equipped With Fog Lamps - (Dec 8, 2009)

Subject: Adding/Enabling Fog Lamps On a Vehicle Not Equipped with Fog Lamps

Models: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Some customers may request to have Fog Lamps added or enabled on a vehicle that was not originally built with fog lamps.

Recommendation/Instructions:
There is not a GM approved fog lamp kit that can be installed on Camaros not originally equipped with that feature.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

I like my car better without fog lights. Less hassle and the black plugs complement my stripes and rims.

When I had them in my Celica, fog lights just meant I had an extra light bulb to change ahead of annual inspections.

GM still doesn't have an approved fog lamp kit that can be installed on Camaros not originally equipped with that feature.
