...permagrin...and I don't own one...

Went to Tonawanda Engine today in Buffalo for a tour with my GM ASEP class. What an excellent tour it was. The facilities were an awesome site to see, and how the Ecotec 2.2 and 2.4 come together was a site I shall never forget, from machining rough blocks, to final assembly.

However...there was one part that I will NEVER forget...

During the introduction slides, I came upon some words at the botton of the screen that read..."Camaro ride and drive"......or something like that.

I froze in awe...I have my sponsorship for the program at a Chevy dealer...but have yet to drive one let alone work on one.

No more.

What was presented to us, outside the front door at the main loop...was a Red Jewel Tintcoat SS/RS, with the L99 and 6 speed auto...of course, everyone wanted a go at it...(there also was a 2010 Equinox LTZ with 3.0 v6 and awd)...

Soon enough, my turn...hop in, give the GM personel(Nina Simone if I recall) in shotgun my waiver, and hit River road...MY GOD...WHAT A CAR!

In the three minute ride, I concluded to the following:

- Visibility is excellent. Rearview mirror is placed perfectly, and windshield view is excellent.

- Wow. Talk about a joyride. Smooth, stable and secure to the road. The Brembos blew me away. The power from that L99 was exhilirating. 5 roll to 65 threw me back in the seat, same goes for an on property romp in the back parking lot near plant 5.

- The permagrin has taken effect. To General Motors: What a car you guys have built. Fit and finish, handling, powertrain, comfort and styling. The whole car. GM and Oshawa team members...Thank you for bringing back and building my favorite pony car ever made. :flag1:

Congrats!!! I have no problem with visibility, but you are the first I have heard to call it excellent. Sounds like you had a great time and that a Camaro will be in your future.

I met Nina at a press event they had there when they brought in the prototype Camaro, nice lady.

Did you swing by Paddock Chevrolet since you were just down the street from it?

Sadly enough I did not and do regret it...I did see a sign for their store from the 290 and wish I detoured.

Just wait till you hit an off camber, uphill, clover leaf off ramp and you need to look exactly where the mirror is placed.

Congratz though! It's a blast!
