Rear Diff and Tranny Fluid Change Meet?
Anyone in the area want to do this but haven't yet?
From the sounds of other threads, the tranny fluid isn't going to be very bad looking at all, but a change will still smoothen out the feel of shifts (not sure how much smoother it can get). However, it seems that the rear diff fluid is supposed to be pretty gunked up with metal shavings, even at 1,500 miles. Lyndsay Chevrolet said they would do the rear diff alone for $330. Not gonna happen. I'd love to do it myself but I'm one of those fairly competent yet still apprehensive about messing something up types. ![]() Any interest in a few of us meeting up to do this together? That is if one of the people who shows up knows how to do it.

I am thinking about doing mines this saturday at the quantico auto hobby shop along with a oil change before I drive to the C5Fest. They have the bays where you can drive your car over and walk under and access all that under the car. They also have certified mechanics that work there as well. Im sure someone can hook you up.

Ah nice. What time you plan on being there? Even if I don't do mine there, I could at least "watch and learn".
Are you a service member or dependant? I go to the one on Ft Meade a lot, but I'm not active anymore so my buddy (who had to go through a training class) has to take me every time now. |

it is really easy to do, just get some clear vinyl tubing to refill the trans and diff. Theres a drain hole and a fill hole, loosen the fill hole then losen the drain hole then wait for all the fluid to drain, put the drain plug back in then put the clear vinyl tubing in the fill hole and refill it until the fluid comes out of the hole (mine took a little less than 4 qts. same process for the diff little less than 1 qt. I used Royal Purple synchromax in the trans and rp 75w90 in the diff.
