Alarm Question - My Windows got shot :(

Hi all, I have a question.

Yesterday was Mothers Day and also my birthday. As a birthday present, someone decided to shoot the windows out on my camaro while it sat in our driveway :(. We think it was a BB gun. My question is, if the alarm was engaged, wouldn't the windows being shattered by a BB gun set the alarm off? My husband s...et the alarm but them opened the trunk so we are thinking that might have turned off the alarm. Luckily everything is covered by insurance but I can't tell you how ill it makes me to have gun holes and shattered windows on my baby right now. I haven't even been able to go outside and look at it since. My husband took care of calling the insurance company, the glass and we have it covered. I are taking care of everything today to get it fixed.

Any help is appreciated also advice on how to keep this from happening again. This wasn't random, they meant to do it to my camaro.

Your factory alarm system is only a "content theft deterrent system ". That system only looks at inputs such as the door ajar switches, the rear compartment ajar switch, and the hood ajar switch. If any of those are opened then the alram would sound.

Sorry to hear about this. I hope the broken glass didn't damage any of your interior pieces like the door panels.

Sooo sorry to hear. My car was shot 7 times by what appears to have been a bb gun in the left side. Did not chip the paint but put a real sharp dent exactly the same on all 7 spots. I have seen other threads indicating these are prone to vandalism. Anything nice and some creep has to mess with it. Again sorry.

Can anyone point out where the Hood Ajar sensor is located? My alarm keeps going off and I think it is because the hood ajar sensor is triggering it. The HUD keeps telling me the Hood is open as I'm driving too.
