Track times..very disappointed
Took my 2010 SS 6-speed to the track and although i only had 2.22 60ft times...my car only ran a 13.5 @ 107mph average after 6 passes. I have LMR cold air and Magnaflow Cat back competition exhaust. I'm very unhappy with these time
:(. I had a 1998 trans am all stock that ran better times with 120 less HP!......is this normal for 1/4 miles times?Temp was @ 82 degrees and very humid. Thanks |

My worst 60' time so far has been a 2.3071
That was one of my very first at a strip and it corresponded to a 14.5775 @ 99.65mph And my best 60' time has been a 2.1095 And that corresponded to a 13.8614 @ 102.93mph My best ever time of 13.8158 @ 103.95 had a 60' time of 2.1717 My disclaimer is, I've got a totally stock Automatic 2SS, and I've only ever run down a quarter-mile drag strip eight times in my life, all with the Camaro. I am by no means good at drag racing. It seems to me like your 60' time seems reasonable considering you haven't mentioned if you've done anything to the suspension or if you have something other than stock tires on your car. From everything I've heard, getting these cars to hook up right has been the biggest issue for people in the 1320. But what do I know, I'm just a noob

Take some weight out of the car. Get a set of drag radials and long tube headers. You should then be well in to the 12's

. Once you find the sweet spot to launch at you should see yourself in the 12's

Humidity is always a factor as less air equates to less hp. As far as your stock 98, i had a 2002 T/A with ram air, cat back, cold air and programmer, and i tell you it didn't compare to the 2010 camaro ss i rented. It might just feel as if it's not as fast because of the refinement. Don't know???

It' all in the launch. The 60 foot times are bad. Shore up your launch technique and you will see the times you are expecting.

60 foot times are definetly killing you, plus we don`t know how good a shifter you are...
If it was an automatic we could probably figure it out from the 60 foot, throw in a manual trans, no idea....Driver mod maybe... ![]() Just messing w/ ya, you need to look at the 60 foot, the Density Altitude for when you ran to get an accurate Idea. Every .1 in the 60 foot is .15 in the quarter. So drop to a realistic 2.0 60 foot you would have run .3 quicker. Plus ifthe air is bad vs a zero DA day there`s another 2-3 tenths. So 12.9 to 13.1 on a zero DA day. With a great driver maybe a couple extra tenths. Sounds about right to me... Of course this is all conjecture, and as such should be used for entertainment purposes only...

I made my first trip to the tack ever today. My 60 ft times were never under 2.5 secs. Absolutely gross. This corresponded to a 13.84 for my best time (DA adjusted to 13.65).
On the flip side, I was estatic over my 108+ trap speed. I need to correct the short circuit between the seat and steering wheel. |

Having hp is critical, but getting hp to the ground is equally as important. fine tuning your 60 ft technique is critical. You may want to consider taking care of some of the looseness in your rear suspension that is costing you a lot of time
