Why don't we just wait until Lingenfelter or Hennessy put on a smaller pully and chip it and see what it'll do then, similar boost would make it a much fairer comparison.

Chevy would never change the name of their new toy when all the info has already been released, magazine reviews completed and cars about to be shipped. They even have the '13 ZL1 vert officially announced, so don't hold your breath on the name change. I think the ZL1 will do just fine once the GT500 comes out, even if it's slightly slower, I think there is more technology in the ZL1 and if you want a faster, be prepared to go broke cuz there will always be somebody faster than you with a bigger wallet to make it happen

I think he is trying to say that if the GT500 was going to ouperform the ZR-1 there would be more response from GM to "beat" the GT500. IE fords fastest car was faster than chevy's fastest car. ford does not seem interested in having a sporst car for what ever reason lately.

that is not going to happen and was not fords intentions really. Ford has publically stated that the GT500's design was to distance it from the Boss 302. which if you were to go to a ford forum you would find all kinds of interal debate between those cars. ford guys don't just come here to stir things up they do it there as well ha ha.

In reality I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I think the udates started in repsonse to the perfornace line for the boss being as close to the GT500 but GM coming out with the ZL-1 almost had to impact how far they went to some extent.

as you can tell the crowd that drives them likes the perception of being "better" as opposed to different.

The Boss an GT500 are for 2 completely diff segments. Not competitors at all. The Boss went after the BMW M3. The more powerful, lighter wieght GT500 in '12 already was a much improved car. I'd be willing to bet money that the Powertrain discussions for '13 were that it had to beat was "638".

My WABAC machine is, unfortunately, broken, and I haven't been able to reach Mr. Peabody to get any service replacement parts.

He admits that he doesn't know for sure but he's been at his job for a good while now and I would assume he has a pretty good idea. Take it for what it's worth. I think it might be a little high for a guesstimation but probably not too far off.
I expect the 2013 with both the PP and TP, to end up under $60K. Base will likely be in the low $50's. You're dreamingif you think it will eclipse $60K base.

The Gen 5 Camaro was the best Camar ever built and the ZL1 will be the same. We'll just have to wait a year or so to trump the Ford guys again...all of us are winning from this. I love that the pony war is such a moving target.
I couldn't agree more. All this competition is only providing bigger and better cars for all of us. It's amazing how far things have come in a short amount of time, and while it may suck in a sense for those who buy one of these cars and then GM/Ford turns around a year later and makes an even better version of the car (whether that be more HP, better suspension, whatever) it's just something that you have to accept. If you spend your life waiting on the next year model of a car because of changes that are potentially going to be made you'll never actually own one of these amazing beasts.

The 2012s go for mid 50s now. I can definitely see a 60k base for the 13
