The common link these all have is ZL1 RESPECT

Bolt-onC6 01-17-2012 12:53 PM

4.3 seconds from 0-60 isn't too bad. They don't say what the DA was. Wonder if they let the IAT get too warm before launching. That reduces timing advance big time with the Corvettes. Assuming they did things right then I'm afraid the mph isn't indicative of an 11 second car if 116 is best.

I swear I read it was cold in at least one of those reviews, so we might be stuck with that 116... I still think it has some top-11s in it by great drivers and on good tracks, but only time will tell

Here's a test sheet from Car and Driver

tnspd 01-17-2012 03:04 PM

ok so it was cold and the tires had 32 psi equals no traction. It will do better then 12.3.......

73vette 01-17-2012 05:00 PM

Sweet!!!

c4maroboy 01-17-2012 05:03 PM

good reading material!

b4z 01-17-2012 05:31 PM

Ultra high performance tires are worthless in the cold.
0-60 times tell me that there were traction issues.
119 mph trap speed tells me that there is a lot of hp.
This car will see 11s no prob with the right conditions.

stymie 01-17-2012 05:33 PM

Temperatures ranged from 34.2°F wet to 46.4°F dry. The ZL1 can do much better, the tires being the limiting factor.

afirehawk1 01-17-2012 06:31 PM

Very cool!

camaro_RS 01-17-2012 06:33 PM

I'm not a huge car guy but that is baaaaaaaaaaaaad a**!!! Quite a bit of dissing on the interior. I don't think it's too bad, but I still don't care for that steering wheel. It would be sweeter if it said Camaro, or ZL1, or something IMO.

MT is showing 3.8 0-60 and 12.1 quarter...quite the difference.

Much better there. I only clicked on the first one. http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...ort/specs.html

mlee 01-17-2012 07:58 PM

117 and 119 trap speed is high 11's all day long...

Bromaro 01-17-2012 08:56 PM

Cant wait for the head to head numbers with the GT500!

Scott@Bjorn3D 01-17-2012 09:00 PM

Also the motor has only 770 miles on her. She will run 0-60's in the high 3's after she gets around 5K-7K miles on her.

v6sonoma 01-17-2012 10:19 PM

So overall the ZL1 is being well received. That's good news for Camaro lovers everywhere. :)

grocerygetter 01-17-2012 10:52 PM

That was some fun literature. Good job GM.

. The ZL1's wheels measure 20 inches in diameter (as opposed to 19 for the other guys), available in two styles with three finishes and fitted with Goodyear F1 Supercar Gen II unidirectional tires (285/35ZR front, 305/35ZR rear).

Autoweek's review. 2 styles and 3 finishes on the wheels.

tooslow 01-17-2012 11:38 PM

Well, I am glad to see these reviews get out there and even happier to see that the car performed as well as it was expected to. Quite frankly, it seems like too many people were down in the mouth around here after the November information was released and all that went on with that other car company. This is refreshing, at the least.

KILLER74Z28 01-18-2012 12:55 AM

All great reads... It's nice to see some positive words about the ZL1! ;)

DoggyB22 01-18-2012 01:37 AM

So many pictures I don't know which one to use for my background!!!

RocketCutlass 01-18-2012 08:17 AM

I'm waiting for Top Gear (hopefully UK) to get their hand's on one. I think the Stig will perform miracles with that car the way these mags are talking about it.

stymie 01-18-2012 09:09 AM

I wouldn't mind seeing the ZL1 on MOTORWEEK, but TOP GEAR would be awesome! I think as Spring approaches, we'll be seeing much better numbers.

Or much worse as summer approaches. I bet the aftermarket guys will come up with a way to help keep in IAT cooler!

PfadtRacing 01-18-2012 10:54 AM

Man this is good stuff! Thanks for the PDF link wilmaya!

They all read March of 2012, so they must be available now or very soon.

Great reads though.

I am going to wait a year or so to get mine though....

Jayrcr3 01-18-2012 12:07 PM

The Car and Driver test sheet indicates 720 miles on the odometer. That car will be significantly faster after a few thousand miles are put on it.

Cam#7 01-18-2012 12:51 PM

Scott, you and Team Camaro should be plenty proud to have the patience to build and test this beast. All honor to your Team !!!!!

I suspect TG US might get it but TG UK won't as the car won't be sold here (according to Chevrolet).

We're still waiting on the SS (the only model we are getting).

vroomapunk 01-18-2012 02:07 PM

The water pump for the supercharger's air-to-liquid intercooler is plucked from a less likely donor: that bastion of efficiency, the Volt. No matter how many Volts are ever sold, consider that car's R&D cost justified.

lilbarry20 01-18-2012 03:07 PM

yeah what

you gotta love this car, I cant wait to be able to get it. All red with the black stripe baby. Yeah what

Shifty11 01-18-2012 06:58 PM

I dont know if im the first to say it it...

But it would seem that the Camaro ZL1 is...the real boss? ;D aha.

shifty

Rangore 01-18-2012 11:18 PM

Fixed :D

LOVE the product coming out from GM, Ford, and Chrysler. Competition is great, and I'm so excited to see what is around the corner from all our american car companies.

jroc7 01-19-2012 05:10 PM

Did hell freeze over or did MT just say they liked a Camaro better than a Mustang? Granted, they had to put the parting shot about the 2013 Shelby in there to keep the Fordies from going into full cardiac arrest, but still. MT must be tired of Chevy owners cancelling subscriptions. I myself gave up on them after they tested a track-modified Genesis with a stock V6 Camaro and had the balls to say the rice-burner was better with a straight face. Its nice to see them be honest for once.
