I agree 100%! There are tried & true L99 combinations here. If you search Google: camaro5 L99 cam upgrade you will find a lot of info. It all depends on your budget & what you want.

Measure the bolts from under the head to the end. There are a lot of threads on those & might be 60 mm. A bolt about 3" would be 75 mm & not be threaded that far. Is your alternator installed yet?

I think the problems with the dod systems come from neglect for the most part. Sure there are premature failures but once you run dirty oil in them the longevity is compromised.

This if funny lol! Mine is just utilitarian to get to the coil packs in a hurry @ the track or intake/valve covers. 4 bolts, 2 extension plugs, pop of the wires & it is all accessible.

Are you running windows? If so, one dumb thing you can check for is pending updates & scan for updates. It probably wont do anything but I have seen this cause issues.
