Yup. GM's TapShift is the most 'manual' automatic out there today. It WON'T shift unless you tell it to, so it'll hold gear and hit the limiter just like a manual...

But, it won't let you downshift past redline. That's the only "intrusive" safeguard on the tranny.

Probably a good thing.

Camaro Scotty thanks I will find out where traction control is and see how they spin dealer may not like it but I need to, Im a 44 year old kid, lol. When you say the car will shift for you do you mean after 1st gear or in the BMW . I lost all power right before I hit redline or at redline I am not sure, the tach is hard to see.

I have a good feeling my 2nd drive will go better this time. I sure wish wife would let me rent a car to see I she can drive stick, not a chance I tried allready.I would love the 26 more HP it has to have a little more bang then the auto.

I read here the exhust from ax back will not give you HP just noise is that true. What will the cold air pkg doto the car becides let it breath better,I think thats the name the dealer told me for like 400 bucks. I dont want to sink too much cash into my new car but would like a tad more cheap bang any ideas. I remember when you could put a chip into a car, seem like nothing for this cay I belive cause its too new.

I haven't done this with my manual 1SS (less than 700 miles and being somewhat gentle in1st gear), but have read on here that if you hold the traction control down for 6 or 7 seconds it turns all the TC/stability/etc. off and you'll easily spin the tires....but have also read that the back end will get very loose and you might end up somewhere you weren't expecting to go.

TC-off is for experienced drivers or very large paved surfaces devoid of obstacles.

Stabilitrac tames this car SO much it's not funny. 430 hp is a lot, and it'll spin you all over if you're not experienced.

Ok I get it it drives like a manual in the respect that when it hits redline it shuts power down. I was not happy when told the auto gets 26 HP less then the manual, I was pissed. The only thing so far I noticed I don't like about the car is where the tach is due to not seeing tach and needing to lean my head on a tilt to just about see it when I think I need to tap.

Don't worry about the hp figure. It's within a .1 of a second of the manual transmission SSs. In fact, some of the fastest times on this site have been posted by the autos.

Did you try to adjust the steering wheel? It's tilt/telescoping, you know.
Adjusting it cleared up most of the problems for me. And with time, you'll be able to HEAR when to shift, you won't need the gauge.

No word on any factory tunes. Although they did offer one for the turbo-4 cars last year...

I think you'll be hooked with a second test drive. Keep in mind...these cars don't really "wake up" until after 1000 miles. So it'll only get faster as you drive YOUR car more.

Ok fellas 2nd drive went awesome other then the dealer telling me 3 times to ease up :-). Actually a 2nd dealer told he had auto with the exhust installed on it. The car sounded like it should sound, What a nice rumble. I think the car responded alot better with the exhust maybe no HP gain not sure but jumpier.
