if you clear coat it, does it become permanent or no?

I would install it, tape off and cover the rest of the car and then clearcoat the vinyl only. So I could still remove it eventually if I wanted to. I just want a little more shine, that way it will look even more realistic. It already looks real in the sunlight alone.

before you put it on clean your car so there isnt anything that could cause the vinyl to not stick as well and just take your time doing it. IMO you should remove the shark fin and then put it back when youre done and put tape over any areas that you could scratch while cutting. Cant wait to see pics when done

If you clear coat it I believe you will find it will blister and peel at some point depending on how much it is exposed to the weather. Clear requires a chemical bond or a sanding to adhere properly. The few time I have been asked to clear over vinyl I sprayed a clear adhesion promoter down first. Still wont hold up for the long run.

well the shop that is working on my car was talking about doing the same thing you are. but we are still unsure of what is going to happen. we have the paint but still trying to do more to the car that is different. me and one other car will have some of the same modifications to the body but i want to be diff on paint and design.

also taylorRyan74 i could ask my shop for some advice since he does that himself and i was watching him do it to some honda i believe and yeah it does look easy. also they did the gtr for lance armstrongs commercial. sooooo i could have you talk to an installer in person if you want.

This is a temporary thing until someone comes out with a real CF roof overlay. I was just going to put a light clear coat on it to give it a little more shine.

so I just clear coated the CF vinyl on my bowties and it looks sweet. It looks more realistic with those 2 coats of clear on there. I will post pics tomorrow in the sunlight.
