Race cars have the plugs all of the time, a normal street car works the best with stock plugs. Not even a comparison worth making.

guys the reason for iridium is kinda complex, but makes a lot of sense for higher CR and high boost engines.

Take for example copper. Easily found, and one of the best conductors. Only other noteable one with a large difference is silver.

Normally, for the amount of metal on a spark plug, and the resistance difference between iridium, platinum, and copper, you wouldn't notice a difference, if it was like a wall outlet or ran off of 12V. but these things are ran off of 50K volts(probably more!).

so a .00001 difference in resistance, means a decent amperage loss in the form of heat.

Also consider the temperature range(not how hot the plug can stand, but of the metals). Now i am not sure of specifics, but i KNOW iridium is higher then copper. It survives entry into earth without being vaporized into a plasma!(fyi iridium is not found naturally on this earth in mineable quantities)

/end science lesson

I went down from iridium to those platinum plugs one time in my old car. Big mistake. It even idled rough, with brand new plugs!

i definitely agree with stock, or a slight difference in heat range due to conditions...

I don't see where anyone said they were JUNK,

What was said is, they don't work as well in a 2010 Camaro as the stock plugs do.

Everything has it's Place and or application.

We are running stock plugs in our 740+ RWHP LS3 with fantastic results.

Ted.

Hmmmm...At 10k, changed to the NGK TR55IX with Granatelli wires and gained 9 RWHP...Bonus....It idles much better. Gapped plugs to .050....DD....Almost forgot to mention the stock plugs had no anti-sieze on them and were already showing signs of corrosion at the base, in AZ, car's never seen rain....DD
