I take it you have an early 2010 so you cannot hold the upshift button to go back into sport mode.

I bet it did, that's one way to find redline.

I agree- I like the way my 2010 is setup.

VIN number 5017. So, I don't think it'll do that.

I'll try the next time I'm driving

Going for a little drive to check it out

Unless I'm highway crusin and trying to save gas, I always shift into S mode then use the paddles when I'm driving around town

I found that if you have an A6 at least in my 2011 just put it in Sport mode and do not use the paddle shifters. The car will still shift itself, fells way more responsive, and if you feel froggy you can use the paddle shifters. I just tried this last week, and got 23.6 MPG, whereas if I left it in "D" I would get 22 MPG.

I Love the feature that you can hit a paddle shifter button at anytime and it will go into manual mode. When I want to pass someone you can hit the shifter button to drop down a few gears, blast past the car, shift it back up to 6th and leave it for 10 seconds and it goes back to D.

It doesn't sound like a good feature. Let's say you are in D going into a turn and accidentally hit the paddle, it kicks into M and you didn't intent to have it in M. So for the next few seconds you stomped in the gas to exit the turn but are not manually shifting (didn't expect it because you are in D), would the engine just scream at redline in 1st or 2nd? The way it works in 2010 is better, you are in M when you want to be and not by accident....

I found this out the other day in mine. I forgot that I had started out in S mode and thought oh my god i've already jacked the tranny and not had it a month! Easy heart attack right there.

Wait. If you hold the upshift paddle it goes back into Sport mode? I didn't know that. I'll have to try that

EDIT: It doesn't work on my car. I have a 2010 with VIN#34902 so not a really low nu8mber but apparently low enough.
