EIBACH 20 mm ADAPTER INSTALLATION

Installed the 20-mm Eibachs today. Just as I suspected, I had to shorten the stock studs by cutting off the non-threaded tips. Used Lenox Gold Sawzall blades and a lot of WD 40, which worked pretty well. I only went though two blades, using the low-speed setting on the saw.

EIBACH 20 mm ADAPTER INSTALLATION

Wasn't all that happy with the nubmer of threads in the supplied lugs for the spacer. The good news is that the cavity behind the stock wheels is wide enough to accommodate the lug (not just the stud), so I went out and got some deeper ones so I would have more threads engaged on the studs that hold the adapter to the hub.

EIBACH 20-mm ADAPTER INSTALLATION

Here is the adapter installed and torqued to 140 lb/ft. The fitment was very good (nice and snug on the hub ring).

EIBACH-20 mm ADAPTER INSTALLATION

And finally, here are the wheels on the ground. The center of the wheels are now back where they were originally, instead of being tucked under the car. You can compare them to the pics on page 6, and decide whether or not this looks better than running the widened wheels with no spacers/adapters.

Please let me know what you think. All opinions are welcomed, as I'm still trying to decide myself.

Sticking out too much with the 8" wheels up front.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I could go with the 15-mm spacer, but I'm pretty sure I'd have to sacrifice some threads on the stock studs.

What if I put another set of 9-inch OEM rears on the front with 275 INVOs? Isn't that what you're doing?

Looks awesome in the back. I do agree about the fronts being too small with the spacer. But I always thought the fronts are too small for this car, in fact the fronts almost bother me more than the rears. Do you know how wide I can widen the fronts when I use them for the fronts instead of the rears? I haven't seen many people widen both fronts and rears.

I don't have a clue.

Anyone else want to chime in on that one. I'd like to know myself.

EDIT: I do know the 9-inch OEM rears have about a half-inch more offset than the 8-inch OEM fronts. That means if you put a set of rears on the front, you would be adding a half inch to the inside and a half inch to the outside.

Hey, yotaman96, we need to see pics of your OEM rears mounted on the front. I may need to do this as well.

If you like I am running 20 x 9's all around. I can take some pics tomorrow if you want to see how they sit.

Looks like with such a wide wheel you're going to kick up a lot of rocks on the paint.

I think the 15mm spacer in the rear and 9" wheels up front would look the best. Sucks you have to modify the stock studs, but if you plan to run the adapter all the time, I don't guess it matters. If my Invos would ever come in, I'd get some pics with the 10.5" in the rear and the 9" in the front. (that kinda sounded dirty)

Check out post #19 in this thread. It has some good pics of 9" all around.

Yep. I think that's the way to go.

Great. Now I need two more 9-inch stockers!

EDIT: Not to mention two new tires. Anyone want to buy two front stockers with 245 INVOs mounted on them?

I thought you were going to get your rears widened over at Wheels America. Did you decide not to do that?
