should be a poll.
imo some of you that are okay with parking in two spaces don't live in densely populated areas perhaps. when you can't find a parking spot anywhere nearby, the d-bags that take up 2 spots really stand out... |

I always try to find a corner spot where someone can only park on one side and I pull nice and tight to the curb and hopefully it's a spot that another car can't be Parked in the front or behind me . Some people like to cherish what they have weather it be a Camaro or Ferrari a fat chick or skinny chick ! Lol.... No you get what I'm saying though just because I own a split Bi-Level and ask you to take your shoes off when entering my house or put your drink on a coaster doesn't give you the right to say why it's not a mansion it's only a split bi-level . That being said I love my Camaro and want to keep it looking new as long as I can but I don't take up two spots I just find one good one !

I'm not crazy about the two spot parking jobs but if I have to park in a lot that is jam packed with small parking spaces I will...people are too careless and just throw their door into anything. I always park in an end space a little over the line so I'm not taking up more than one space and still prevent door dings. I don't think my car is anything special, it's just something I do with all my cars so they aren't in the body shop twice a month getting PDR...

Your analogy of a semi truck is ridiculous and holds no water as a semi truck obviously cannot fit into one individual parking space. Try again. That being said, owners definitely do care about their cars (as they should, if it weren't for the folks here and car enthusiasts everywhere, we'd all be driving Camrys or something), and there is a way to park safely without being a total ***hole about it. Find a curb spot, park with your wheels as far over to the curb as possible without scraping them. Mission accomplished.

the point is, WHAT DOES IT MATTER? If you do it in the city or in a crowded parking lot then yeah you are a Ahole but in an empty lot what does it matter.
All of the people saying you are an ahole for taking spots are just ridiculous. I know the semi point isn't the exact same but the fact of the matter is like I said "what does it matter" And yes I know the the camaro is not the rarest car in the world but that doesn't matter. I dont care if you have a camaro, pinto Ferrari nothing makes you different then another car. Your car should be special to you. We are all car guys/gals here and bashing on the OP calling him an Ahole for parking in two spots is ridiculous. Why would it be ok to do it in a 250,000 ferrari but not a Camaro. Most people who have Camaro's are middle class people who bust there ass. The ferrari driver is most likely into money from his parents success. Point is this is your car its special to you, If you take your time to park in the back of a lot (whether 1 spot or 2) it is no one elses business. Society is so messed up that people will get mad over someone taking two spots. And the paint was not meant as a threat. It is just saying if you take the time to do all the detailing work all the time, the car is "special" to you. |

Wow a lot of responses, and I do see the validity of both sides of the argument.
Bottom line is, I don't always take up 2 spots in a parking lot... but when I do, I make sure to do so in in the far back of the lot where it is empty and I will park on the end of a row. Now if someone is going to see my car all the way in the back, decide they don't like how I parked, and proceed to damage my car... then I guess I can't do anything about it. My point is that if someone is going to be upset that I took 2 spots out of the tens or hundreds available in the back of the lot, then that person is probably upset for some other reason to begin with. If someone just wants to mess with cars on purpose, then they are going to be looking for cars parked by themselves in the back anyways, regardless of whether they are taking up 1 or more spots. In a situation where my car may be taking up an extra spot, but it is not depriving anyone else of a spot, then I do not believe it significantly increases the chances of someone purposefully damaging my car.

well then, if one breaks the parking rules (there is a reason why the parking stalls are painted with lines on either side) then one shouldn't be mad when he/she finds her keyed or damaged. The vandal is breaking a rule but hey, you were too so why does it matter?
Maybe if you park your car like a semi, you know, across a few stalls, maybe it's ok.

My girlfriends brand new Rogue, she parked in the farthest away spot at her gym, no other cars around, she came out and somebody had backed into it. Still no other cars around. It's infuriating !!

I was just funnin' ![]() I really see the point you were trying to make. Bottom line, it pretty much depends where and when you take up two spaces. Huge empty parking lot way way in the back where normally (no matter the time of day) no other cars park, and yep, be my guest. However, in parking lot where perhaps there are lots of open spaces so you take up two spaces way out there but you know it would normally fill up depending on the time of day, then I would say be prepared for unwanted consequences. |
