[QUOTE=cheech4235;4112305]Just want to share an incident at menards. Parked in between the lines, way out in my Ram 2500. At least 5 spots on either side and the row in front and back were empty. Have tinted windows and was eating lunch when a honda pulls up right next to me, swings his door hard (like on purpose) and dings my truck. You should have seen the look on this punk kids face when I get out to confront him. I didnt call the cops like I should have for property damage but I did have a nice loud talk with him. I wish I would have called now because the kid was an idiot.

My truck has 35" tires with a 5" lift and I always park in between the lines at least 4 or 5 spaces from the pack but 8 out of 10 times when I come out someone has parked right next to me. I dont get it either!

The reason I park far away is not only to keep away from door dings but also if cars sqeeze me on both sides, it is pretty tough to back out with a truck this size.

Thing is, doesnt matter where you park or how, there is too many idiots out there.[/

It seems like the common reasoning is that you do not need to take up 2 spots when your car is parked way out in the back of the lot because no one else is likely going to park there anyways. Then if that is the case who is going to be there to even notice how you parked and key your car?

More importantly, I have never heard of or experienced an instance where people were so infuriated about how other people parked that they felt the need to inflict damage on a car. Sure, if you park up front or in a frequently used area of the parking lot and you take up more than 1 spot then I can definitely imagine people getting upset. However, if you park in the back of a lot where there is usually only 1 or 2 other cars total, then I'm fairly confident that no one will care or even notice how many spots you take up.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that I believe WHERE you park your car is much more important than HOW you park your car.
Run with that theory, let us know how it works for ya.

And for the record, I say "live and let live."

I'm not going to do hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of damage to someone's car just because they are inconsiderate.

How does that make ME any better than THEM??

A list of (parking) rules I live by to avoid issues when parking my Camaro:
  • Park away from the entrance (preferably near lot cameras)
  • Park near Islands (as close as possible without curb rashing your wheels)
  • Try not to draw attention to yourself: avoid parking over lines
  • Shop at off peak hours (shop @ 24 supermarkets)
  • Wait in car a few moments... (caught a few a**holes circling the car this way)
  • When forced to park near other cars, jot down their license plate, approximate year, make, model and color of neighboring vehicles.
  • Have a game plan when shopping... rush in, rush out.
  • Observe other shoppers and vehicles... find a single occupant vehicle that may be parked longer than you to park next to
  • Back in if you have a vanity plate
  • When parking in grass lots directed by event staff; open doors before the next vehicle is guided to park next to you

Exactly I park way back from normal parking lot traffic, but when I come out of the store their is usually to beaters parked by me.
I now stay with the car and get my wife to do the shopping anytime we we R shopping in it.
I sucks I think people just like the idea of you having a nice car and likes to ding it up and make it look like their piece of junk.

Why don't take three spots then

The last car I saw parked using two spaces (Hummer at the movies) had food thrown all over it.

When you use two spaces you're just bringing un-needed attention to your car.

I park near the back of parking lots. I try to park up close to a curb to give anyone that parks next to me extra room. That seems to make everyone happy.

My car is coming up 3 years old this Spring. I have 0 door dings.

Whats that say on his plate...oh yeah..."HIT_ME"..hahaha.
Would love to move the road cones and park like door handle to door handle on both sides.
But alas...carma dictates that moments later he left the theater and was puddle splashed by a passing garbage truck..!!!

That car deserves that treatment, but to actually do it wow that takes balls.

I like this list. A bit much for some, but I'm right there with you.

There's a guy in town who riced out his Camaro (it's pretty bad) and when he parks...ANYWHERE, even at work, he pops out 4 traffic cones around the car.

I usually just park far away from everyone, or use my DD to do anything were id need to park my car in public for long periods of time.
