I have the Flowmaster AMt axel back system and It does DRONE and I am living
with it. The system has been on the car for a year so I am use to it. When I am
at full throttle it sounds awesome. The flowmaster guy always adresses quality
issuses but when the DRONE issue is out here all of a sudden..........................

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder on mine and LOVE it! I get compliments even from V8 owners on the sound. I honestly don't notice the drone. I spent a lot of time listening to various set ups online and other Camaros in person and went with the Flowmaster AT and have no regrets!

I have your AT catback and love the sound, but after installing my turbo, I feel I need and want a straight through design to help with flow. Your outlaw mufflers (if they are a straight through design) would be perfect to just weld in place of my AT.

As you can see, they are straight through mufflers. We do sell the Outlaw muffler separately. They are in our race muffler section of the catalog. Their inlet and outlet diameters range from 3” to 5”. We are slated to build these in 409S Stainless Steel, until that time they are available in aluminized steel. Since this thread is in the V6 section of the forum, we assume you’re running a V6. If you’re running the 2.5” exhaust, you’d have to adapt them pipe to fit the 3” Outlaws.

Your Turbo V6 sounds like a fun project. Keep us updated.

Thanks a ton! I really appreciate the help. I actually own an LS3 V8 and currently have your Anerican Thunder 3" Catback. However, I want to replace the American Thunder Mufflers that come with the catback with these outlaw mufflers. It's is a direct replacement, or what's involved in doing so? Will I have to tell the shop to custom bend some piping or add some piping to fill in any space since the outlaw race mufflers are smaller than the American Thunder 40's mufflers? I also want to add 5" tips that I have sitting here at home. Is this possible as well, or will there be no room? Also, I'm assuming I need the outlaw muffler with a 3" inlet AND 3" outlet, correct?

I'm sure I could find it with enough digging around the boards, but I'm lazy..

Can anyone post a link or video to hear the sounds of the two different systems, as well as the Borla if possible? Would be nice to listen to them side by side

RED10LS – We’ve addressed drone before. Every system has drone in some part of the RPM range. Drone is resonating frequency from the exhaust pulses coming from the exhaust valves opening and closing. The more aggressive the muffler, the more obvious the resonance will be. Fuel efficiency ignition tuning usually increases the resonance.

Drone is also subjective. Some people are more in tune with the resonance than others and some drive their car in a different RPM range to get rid of the resonance.

We’re glad to see we have some fans of Flowmaster exhaust systems

TCAT – You’re welcome!

If you look at the picture of the Camaro Cat-Back system you can see that the offset/offset mufflers are not a straight shot from the pipe that turns around the rear differential doesn’t make a straight shot to the tail pipe tips, so some bends will be necessary to make some 3” Outlaw mufflers fit. Your Flowmaster Cat-Back is 3” 409S Stainless Steel and our separate Flowmaster Outlaws are Aluminized Steel.

We’re currently scheduled to start producing them in 409S Stainless in the next couple of months.

Keep in mind that your 5” exhaust tips will further increase the tone of the aggressive Outlaw mufflers. Do you have pictures of your 5” exhaust tips?
