NOTHING (supposedly) can cause a voiding of your warranty, legally. Where the warranty gets thrown out the window is if any trouble with the car can be directly traced back to the modification....(I.e. if headers you put on caused to much back pressure and blew up the engine. Purely theoretical, but just putting th headers on should NOT void the warranty)
Does that make sense? I guess this is a law. The warranty is only void if any repairs are needed because of a modification. |

Sorry, edited my post to avoid double posting cause I do really want to know how S/C's play with cylinder deactivation.
But yeah.. magnachargers are sick... |

To elaborate even further than yes they do...
A supercharger/turbocharger just forces more air into the the chamber (and thus you need more fuel) and more air/fuel = more power. Cylinder deactivation only cuts off the spark and injectors, the valves/pistons/mechanicals still run. So all your doing is forcing air into an unpressurized cylinder and then exhausting it. no harm no foul ect... Edit - yes I know I kept it simple.. but these are the basics..

It creates a 'spring' action inside the cylinder. The power used to push the piston up and compress the unused air trapped inside is given back on the return (mostly) when the piston is being pushed down by the now compressed air. Still doesn't change the answer. FI works fine with Cylinder deac. |

... haha. You don't have to keep anything basic with me. I was just concerned about the fact of thoes cylinders being shut down reducing horsepower.. thus making it harder for the engine to drive a S/C and car at the same time... The sealed cylinder makes sense then, because engine isn't wasting HP to drive cylinders that aren't doing their work.

At the time I think I may have been ignorant of the CTS-V. It was 5 months ago that I posted that.
