Maybe the best thing to do is drive both for ones self before buying. Novel idea...I shall call it a "test drive".
Of course getting the "test drive" might be difficult. Dang dealers. |

I don't think anyone said they mean nothing, but maybe I missed it. The issue that keeps the argument going in circles is you have some people that are literally calling the skidpad and slalom a road course and you have others that act like handling doesn't matter at all. Of course skidpad numbers matter, but higher skidpad numbers don't mean the car is definitively faster on a road course by any means, especially when the cars in question have a huge hp and weight deficit and braking is close, slightly in favor of the worse handling car. I'm going to break it down one last time before I stop posting in this thread because it's really becoming a bother to say the same things over and over again. Car A holds a hefty advantage in handling, but car B is a great handler itself. Car B holds a hefty advantage in acceleration, but car A is no slouch. Car A and B both stop phenomenally with a slight advantage to Car B. Which one wins on a road course? If you think you can accurately answer that question based on the information we have, you are delusional. That's all I'm saying. The zl1 definitely handles better and the gt500 definitely accelerates faster, but both cars do the others profession at a very high level. None of this adds up to a clear winner on a given road course and in fact it seems more often than not, track choice will play a huge factor. |

And I don't need to be schooled about east TN, I spent a lot of my formative years in that area of that state. Still one of my favorite place to visit. |

I aggree with you. I just think it is funny how the same people who try one day then flip there argument the next. rather than just wait for the test. I despise the magazine race thing but sometimes it is all people have and on the interent they will run with it. I have been guilty of it myself. I in my head when I saw the same day head to head ZL1 vs Boss 302. made the conclusion that the ZL1 faster than the 2012 GT500 because the same day boss 302 vs 2012 gt500 were within .5 seconds. ha ha. as stupid as I know that is that is what my mind came up with. why because nobody will run the 2012 ZL1 vs 2012 GT500 for some reason.

Not for the added specs of the GT500. The post I replied too, the person said they were disappointed with the ZL1, I would be more disappointed with the GT500 if I was a Ford fan considering it took 100hp more, 250lbs less, and $7k more to go 4/10ths faster 0-60 and still dosent handle as well. Doesn’t take much in mods to get 4/10ths 0-60 or 1/2 sec 1320ft. Couple grand would easily do it for the LSA, now you have a quicker car, AND better handling (not to mention better looking) and still cost less.

Commits weekly crime
|
You know what I'd really love to see?
Head to head, same day racing between the two cars at 5 different tracks. I chose these tracks, because technically the GT500 could actually be faster at some of them. Maybe only at a track like Daytona or Talladega would the GT500 really be able to have a chance? ![]() Bristol VIR Indianapolis Motor Speedway Watkins Glen Nurburgring It doesn't have to be these specific tracks, but I'd love to see if and at what point the Mustang might actually be able to match times with the ZL1. Indianapolis -might- be the only track where that's possible (in the tracks I listed). Whatcha all think?

You know what I would like to see? What the excuses are going to be when the GT500 beats the ZL1 on any track they are tested head to head on.
