Where did this issue take you because my car just started this a few days ago and in a couple of days has escalated to the point that I wont drive the car. It pops on the LH and RH side but the RH is way worse. I have lifted the car and removed the wheels to investigate it. The origin seems to be the outer CV joints and there seems to be some excessive play on the RH side. I basically baby the car. I have never had my car to the strip or done any hard launches with the car. Yes I get on the gas now and again but nothing I would consider abusive and I'm not making more HP than this stock drivetrain should handle. I am baffled as to why I have bad CV joints after only 16,000 miles if that is what the issue is. please let me know how this turned out for you. Thanks
Took my out to the hub and the thrust washers that apparently were substandard or left out completely. I had Becky and Maureen take care of me and they sent me the washers and nuts. Should get here today. I'll do them tonight or tomorrow and update. I'm going to get good video documentation on this procedure so it's more known.

Here is the video in the thread I started about my clicking issue when I found out exactly where the noise was coming from. This is where I'll update my fix video.

Depending on your vehicle as well, they will be able to check your VIN for any applicable recalls or warranties if available. If you want I can check your VIN as well. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Not much good if the dealer won't even do an oil change for you. hahaha

PQ,

Our early 2010 model year cars did not have the thrust washer. #8689 here. My "tink" -like a Al bat on a ball --got worse. This is also the reason the dealership seldom hears of this problem because they started putting them in later. I found the TSB and took it to the dealer about 3 months ago. They installed the Thrust washers and everything is fine now.

Hope for your sake the washers fix the problem but I still say it's going to be CV Joints. Good luck Brotha
Thanks for the update and I'll be watching for it.

Nice to have more confirmation.

Mine is #9067 ..... I'd be interested to know when it started. AND why it's not a recall item that supersedes the TSB rules. KNOWING that the cars were made completely without them.

where can you get these "thrust washers" is it absolutely needed, will it cause damage to anything not having it in??

I don't think it will cause damage for a while. Just be annoying as hell. It will get louder.

My car had over 60k miles on it so I"m sure you can wait but eventually I'd get it done.

You can get them from your dealer. For both sides along with the axle nuts will be about 25.00

I know this is an old post but I have a 2010 Camaro 1SS and recently have noticed this ticking in the rear end. My car is lowered, will I have an issue bringing in my car in to get it fixed/serviced? Not sure if warranty gets voided if the car is lowered with aftermarket springs. Thanks guys.

Coin toss. I'd guess you'll be fine. Mine is flagged as completely void. LOL

Did you here the click in my video? If it sounds like that you can be more sure it's the same noise you have.

Just listened to it and actually, that's not the sound I'm getting. In a way, it sounds like a rear antenna being stuck.
