I'm pretty sure it's in the tune of the ecm to shut down the injectors on decel to save fuel. It can be tuned out.

I can't stand the popping sounds. It reminds me of some old POS that someone tried to make into a hot rod, but cut corners at every turn. JMO
A tune should help.

I agree.

I recently had 3" cat back installed and the popping/burbling sound is much much louder and longer than stock and it happens pretty much any time you take your foot off the gas pedal, in any gear. You could be on the freeway and take your foot off the gas pedal to start slowing down and it will do it. Coming to a stop sign and decelerating in low gears, everyone nearby will hear it. Good or bad depends on your preference.

I like it but I wonder what negative impact it is doing to the engine, if any.

Magnaflow reduces poppping with a resonated x-pipe. I believe Corsa and Solo have resonated x-pipes for this reason too, which also reduces drone. I don't like the popping myself, I'll be using a resonated x-pipe fro one of the above companies.

Wow you guys are NUTS! That is such a cool sound I do things on purpose to make that popping sound. It sounds so cool.

You could fix this buy selling your car and buying oh let’s say a Buick.
