I have to agree that the V6 bumpered version looks very closely to the concept to the untrained eye. My wife who has seen transformers a dozen times with me could not notice any differences at first glance unless i put a picture of them side by side. Then she saw clear differences with the rear and ofcourse likes the concepts rear a whole lot better..However she did point out that from the front, it is almost identical where the roof being taller and the body not being as close to the ground. Only us aficionados will know the differences and especially those that have seen the concept in person.. However I am very happy with the way this is turning out and I just hope we get to see the production model in the showrooms very soon and I do want to place an order for a V8 SS as soon as I can without a high dealer markup ofcourse. I will wait as long as I have to if the dealers want to charge over MSRP...

A foxnews 'expert' is predicting the price of gas to return to $2.15 per gallon, with oil just below $90 per barrel. Short term he said $3.75 at the end of summer. He was basing this upon Bush's executive order to remove the ban on new domestic drilling..... AND congress ALSO removing their ban.

But it was nice to see some optimism regarding gas.

I heard this as well a month ago. Lots of factors are involved however at this point, it seams unlikely we will see prices drop that drastically for another five years... Five years is how long it will take for offshore drilling to start producing any oil to make a difference. But I do share your optimism and I do hope prices go down in the short term..

This would be the best news anyone could have gotten gasoline pricewise this whole year. BAM! Just like that, Mcain saves the auto industry. >.....for the time being.

Ok...maybe it was Bush who started it....and maybe Mcain will continue it. Obama....he doesn't seem to care about gas prices.....maybe because he won't be paying for them while he would be getting carted around by everyone else which would be paid for out of taxpayers pockets.

On second thought....not even going there.

One suggestion for GM is not to hold on too long before announcing the Z28 or providing details on the convertible. I'd hate to buy earlier and then 6 months goes buy and feel sad I didn't get the Z28. Or wait for the Z28 and then realize it will cost too much or something (dealer markup).

I got something to say:

Everybody hoping to get a V8 with AFM with 28 or 30 MPG
but........ The majority of us want a six-speed tranny, and if you get a manual transmission you can't have AFM and and you will have reduce fuel economy so I estimate that with the V8 with a stick, below 25 MPG

I suspect that the manual without AFM will get fuel economy equal to the automatic with AFM. Most cars are more efficient when equipped with a manual transmission and the same engine.

Could be, but the L99 has 20 hp less, AFM, etc, and a different rear end with higher ratio...It will be interesting to see how it ends up! Will it be a tie, or will one do better than the other...Is it Monday yet?

Doubt it, everybody shifts differently

I thought the discussion was about EPA ratings.

As far as everybody shifting differently...all automatics shift the same, and anyone interested in fuel economy who has a manual can choose to shift for it.

I will get over 33mpg from my manual V6. My current car is EPA rated 22/28 and I get up to 42, usually 36 with 40% highway, 20% town, and 20% country roads. The 18/28 V6 Camaro shouldn't be much worse, especially since it will probably have better gears.
