Yes DEEP is what I'm looking for too. I want my exhaust to sound like a death metal band.

I did install LT's and H-pipe on my mustang and hated it, sounded terrible. I bought a Dr. Gas X-pipe kit and never heard a 5.0 sound so nasty, especially at high RPM. No more H-pipes for me.

SleepWarz – The difference between straight and an X-pipe on the Camaro would depend on whose X-pipe you added. If you added a traditional X-pipe the sound would be raspier…it’s just the nature of merging the banks at an angle. Using a merged version like our Scavenger X-Pipe allows both banks to balance out for increased performance (over straight-pipes) while keeping the merge to a minimum and keeping the deeper sound…compared to the other brands of X’s.
Deeboe – If you’re looking for something like older 5.0s or old musclecars, the LS engines are a completely different architecture. Turndown exhaust pipes would increase the bass sound, but the new Camaro rear bumper doesn’t give much of an option for that. Flowmaster 44s and Original 40s are about the loudest mufflers before they stop being a bass sound. |

i wanted to bring this thread back..
Set up is still the same...Custom 3 inch piping and FM10s Str8 pipes..is there really any difference in sound from str8 to X? I want more sound not less. So resontated pipes oare out the question. I might just bust the pockets for Hi-flo cats..

- for a deeper/classic musclecar sound you want H-pipe
- for a sportier/race car sound you want a X-pipe |

SOLO highflow cats will give you more power and volume
And I agree with the H versus X tone mentioned above. I have the x now but liked the H better.

I'm planning headers but I still have my factory h-pipe with a Solo axle-back. Will I be restricting air flow or losing potential power by keeping the factory h-pipe and not switching to an x-pipe?

I don't know about comparing a factory H to an aftermarket X. However, when I talked to Heartthrob about their catback, they told me they went with the H because it had the old school muscle car sound and made more HP than the X.

I totally agree with the sound (H-pype = old school muscle car sound). But there should also be a difference when it comes to performance. If my memory serves me right: - X-pype: Better gains at lower RPMs - H-pype: Potential loss at lower RPMs Anyway the difference isn't huge AFAIK.. |

Dude... KEEP your 10s on trust me! You need to get headers or high flows or cat delete. My car sounds NASTY with LTs no cats and super 10s. I have actually been asked if I have a cam a few times, when the car is cold it actually does sound cammed, full throttle is just unreal for a stock engine.

I think for a deeper sound, get a 3" exhaust.
I heard some guys' cars with Flowmaster exhausts. They have very deep tones. (I personally have a Borla.) I am not crazy about the popping. To each their own. Isn't the popping controlled mostly by the tune? I mean, if the tuner significantly reduces the fuel flow when you are decelerating, isn't that what causes the popping? |
