Burning Smell

My car had 4 miles on it this morning, went for a little drive today and put another 30 on it.. it still has a burning smell when I get out of it. How long does this usually last? is it normal?... its an M6 but it dont really smell like the clutch

Is this your first new car? The car needs to go through at least a few dozen heat cycles before everything seats really well and tolerances are established. Also, grease, etc used in the manufacturing process for things like the exhaust need to burn off. It goes away in time.

Enjoy it while it's there...means your car is brand new!

Mine did the same thing. Every new car does it. No worries. Enjoy it While it lasts!

It is normal.
My "smell" went away after about 100 miles.

It will be gone soon only to be replaced by a burning rubber smell coming from the back.

Agree... probably won't even take that long

I have had several new cars, just never noticed it... not driving it hard at all, just trying to use up the 87 octane the dealer filled it up with... wasnt really worried just curious.

The DEALER didn't use premium!!?? Drive away from that dealer as quick as possible, and NEVER go back!! They just handed you a high performance car with side of the road discount gas. I'd be FURIOUS!! Well, I usually am, but, even more so...

Be sure to reset your fuel map (L99 and LS3) once you've got a full tank of premium in there. Look at the stick under the engines section of the forum.
