A/C Smells! Anyone else with the same complaint?

I know this sounds really stupid, but the air from the a/c smells bad!! It lasts a while and goes away a little but still kinda funky. When I have it turned off I press the circulating button so the hot air won't keep coming in, but eventually the light turns off on its own and the hot air begins coming in along with the funky smell. I just wanna know if anyone has had the same thing cause everyone that rides with me points it out so I know I am not crazy!!

Thanks for any input ahead of time!

With only 4000 miles my A/C compressor had to be replaced.

So you probably are not crazy....

Took mine in for this they said they sprayed it with a fungicide and if I recall they said the fan was to keep running after you shut off the car to dry the system out but was not activated in the software. That was last year but now I have a bit of smell again. Probably just need a filter change now.

I know sometimes water/condensation will set in the tray and not drain out. THat is the dirty water smell. But I understand the car is suppost run the fan to dry the tray out.

On any car if you run the AC on and recirculating for long periods of time, you will accumulate mildew/mold in your vents. My mother always had her recirc and AC on for a month in almost every new vehicle our family ever owned and ruined them.

Took mine to dealer today, they found water in tray, they dried it out, cleaned system with some kind of foam? and turned on something in software to keep fan on. real happy with dealer, took 2 hrs and salesman i bought car from filled up gas tank, well worth the wait.

PlantCityPete, glad to hear you got your issue resolved. Is there anyone else here that is still having this issue? Thank you for your time.
