Idling with A/C on
I’ve notice with my 2LT that the idling seems to be a bit rougher (not sure if that is the right word, just not as smooth) with the A/C on. I seem to notice an ever so slight fluctuation when sitting at a light. I’m assuming this is normal as it needs additional RPM’s to run the compressor, but wanted to check.

I experience the same thing with my A/C on. If I put it into park instead of just sitting with my foot on the brake, the RPMs drop and it runs a little smoother, so whenever I'm idling, I make it a point to put it in park.

Did you guys get the recall for the A/C? It said they just need to reprogram the interior/onboard computer and you have till 5/13. It said the A/C wouldn't turn off or wouldn't turn back on. The first recall, prolly not the last.

No recall and no prob with the above mentioned glitch with my 2LTRS. Was the recall a #/build date recall?

I guess it wasn't really a recall(poor choice of words) since it didn't involve a safety issue, more like a message or public service announcement. No one was actually killed by not having A/C or too much.

I had my car in and reprogrammed for the recall about 3 weeks ago. I'm assuming whatever it was was fixed (I hope).

For those who had the a/c fixed, did it help with it's cooling ability? I have not gotten a letter about the problem like some but mine has never felt like it cooled real well and even with just the vent on it brings in hotter than outside temp air almost like it is getting engine bay heated air. Anyone?
And to the OP, yes at idle with the a/c on if I raise the rpms a little (I have a manual trans) I can make it really run rough at about 800 to 1000 rpms so I'd assume that the automatic cars engines are trying to maintain engine rpms with the load from the auto trans and I can see yours doing this quite a bit. It shouldn't and maybe that is what the recall or whatever is all about. I'll keep looking for my letter in the mail.

When I had my AC condenser replaced the dealer gave me a rental car since it was considered life threatening not having AC.

As for the A/C fix (computer flash), this will not help your cooling. When I 1st got my car I had the same issue, I thought my A/C was not "really" cool. I then read a post where someone mentioned to make sure you have the recirculation on, so I did that. It made a world of difference. Once the car cools off I can drive with it on medium-low here in Orlando an I am cold. This is from a guy that always feel hot. So make sure you put the recirculation on! |

Even working A/C has trouble keeping up out here, especially lately since it's been so muggy.
