Stupid Question..

Hey every one I have been looking into adding a sub to my car. I was looking at the stealth box system but some of my friends who do car audio are saying that higher they could get a higher quality for cheaper. Now with the stealth box in mind is it possible for the Convertible Stealth box to fit or are the trunk dimensions different for the two? (I would assume that but wouldn't the width be the same?)

You have to be careful throwing around phrases like "stealth box" because there are a few different folks using the term now. I'm going on the assumption you're referring to the JL Audio StealthBox. (They probably have a trademark on the term anyway.)

Your friends are right. You can get higher quality for cheaper. Start with ********, a forum sponsor. www.********.com.

The stealthbox system designed for the convertible is exactly that -- designed for the convertible. You don't want it in a coup. The subs are shallow because our top takes up so much room in the trunk. You don't have that problem, so take advantage of the space you have.

Steve@******** has many excellent options, and now that his harnesses are back in stock, you can't go wrong. He's a busy guy, and doesn't answer the phone all the time, and doesn't always return calls, but when he does, he's an excellent source of information and advice. His products are an amazing value for their quality.

It depends on what you are asking. If your friends are in the car audio business and can get you a quality 'glassed box, then hell ya!!! However if you are doing an apples to apples comparison, I personally dont think you can go wrong with ********'s products, period.

The convertible/coup has already been answered and is spot on.

Cheers

The JL StealthBox (and yes, they do have it trademarked lol) is pretty darn cheap for what it is. A very rigid, well built fiberglass box designed specifically for the driver it ships with, by the same guys who designed the driver. A 12W6v2 is a very capable sub, and for what it goes for, and having someone tape off the side of your trunk, lay mat & resin to strength, remove it, fab and attach the sides & baffle, clean it up, wrap it...you'll pay more. JL will go through several driver/enclosure combos and listen to them all before going into production on a StealthBox model.
Now, like anything else, your specific goals and budget will always determine what piece makes the most sense; but StealthBoxes deliver a VERY good value when used in the right application. And the 12" Camaro one specifically does get down quite nicely.

Like was mentioned before, anything designed specifically for the convertible, you don't want it in the coupe. The coupe has so much more room, which gives you so many more options. If you are comparing alternatives, to the price of the JL version stealthbox, then yes, there are more affordable options out there. For instance, you could go with our large driver's side box and pick out a much better woofer than a 12w6 and have a lot better system for a lot less. But with us, you are not tied to that one woofer choice. So if you want to buy an unloaded enclosure from us and pick out your own sub or use a sub you have already, then that is extra savings in your pocket. But yeah, it would be great for you to explain in more detail what your friend is telling you.
