TPMS - What I learned

I am talking about a set of Custom wheels.

What I have learned is the following:

1. Holes for the TPMS are drilled on the inside lip

2. Stock GM sensors are long.

3. Using the long sensors causes them to hit the E-brake cable. This can be solved by using zip ties to fasten it to the toe arms.

4. Under load they will also hit your aftermarket(BMR) and maybe your stock trailing arms. My BMR arms beat them out of round and caused a leak around the internal workings of the stem.

5. Pirelli tires have a max pressure of 50psi, but GM runs them at 36psi. Had tires mounted on custom wheels and they aired my Vredesteins up to the 51psi max. This trips the dash light. I am now running them at 38psi after talking to the guys at the tire shop and the light is out!

6. Next time I will buy aftermarket low profile TPMS sensors that work with the GM system.

I LOVE this car!

i've run into the same problem, if you want to run higher pressures the dealer can program the pressure thresholds higher or lower for your intended use.
i've gone a different route, on my rear valve stems i used an adapter for the inner lip to hold the sensor in place instead of having an inner stem to hold the sensor.
i have been having a problem getting my rear sensors to read and program but i think its because of the wheel width, i will post more on this in the coming weeks as i work with my dealer to sort it out.

Thanks for the info. How do you like the Vredesteins and what sizes are you running?
