Exactly. Make sure you know what you're doing before you go, though.

There is an article in Motor Trend comparing the 2011 Mustang V-6 auto against a rental 2LT Camaro auto, a 2011 V-6 Challenger and a Hyundai Genesis V-6. This listed the times and the Camaro was just a tick quicker but basically very similar performance to Mustang, basically would be a drivers race whether drag strip or road course. The V-6 Mustang with the track pack, lower gears and manual transmission is quicker than the V-6 Camaro auto or manual. You have to buy the manual to get the lower gears in the Mustang. Mustang is still speed limited regardless of gears to 113 MPH top end. The 2 LT had 19" polished aluminum wheels with all Season Y rated Pirelli tires and has a speed limiter at 155 MPH. If you have an LS Camaro the speed limiter is 118 MPH and an RS with 20" wheels has the 155 MPH speed limiter. Now you know so unless your on the track lets take the word of what info is available. I personally think the weight of the V-6 Camaro LS and LT are closer to the Mustang than listed. I weighed my 1LT with 19" polished aluminum wheels and it was 3700 lbs with about 4 to 6 gallon of gas. If you look in the Camaro Versus forum there is a thread on the M/T article.

If the reason you bought the car is to impress your friends, then you will never be happy because there will be a better/faster/sexier/cheaper car produced after you buy yours.
You need to settle and be happy for a few years with your decision. That is unless you are rich and can buy a new car every year or two.

Oh lord... Would everyone PLEASE stop with all of the magazine racing. ESPECIALLY when comparing results from Motor Trend and Car and Driver. They are VERY biased against GM products. Not to mention the fact that times posted through the magazines have ALWAYS been on the slow side vs actual times drivers have accomplished on their own behind the wheel of a GM product.
Anyways... If you want to know which vehicle is faster, meet up with this kid at the track. As far as appearances go, it's all based upon everyones opinion. |

Camaro vs. Mustang (Targeted age group for sales and actual age group purchasing?)
I am curious, does anyone have any info as to what age group is mainly purchasing the new Camaro vs. the Mustang? What about the age group that is (actually) targeted for the the sales of the Camaro vs. the Mustang?
Maybe I should make a poll out of this to see what the average age group of new Camaro's owners are on this perticular site? |

they target the same audience. you may see more younger mustang drivers as it never went out or production and there are plenty of used/affordable models on the market. this will happen to the camaro all in due time.
you could do a poll here and a poll on a mustang forum.

I've noticed that since the mustang has brought back their "older style" body, a bit more of the older generations are buying it. I love the old style body mustang, ....because it is almost as cool as a Camaro
. Lets not kid ourselves as to why the mustang is doing this, the Camaro just looks so effing beefy and HOT ....droool.... which state do they let you marry your car?
