I will sign my name [on ice] that I will not NOT mode my future ZL1.

ZL1 will be both a work of art and a marvel of engineering, but it won't be unique. Since there will be many of like type, there is a part of the human psyche that will want to differentiate ourselves and hence our cars, which are extensions of ourselves. Call it the peacock factor. "Look at me."

You could call it a basic drive.

Personally, I'll only be modding things that will not affect the warranty for the first few years, that is unless the competition pulls a rabbit out of their horses backside. The equivalent year GT500 must die. That's all there is to that discussion as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, what's wrong with mod'ing your own car if you want? Live & let live, man. Without the desire for progress, the aviation industry would have stopped at propellers, if you follow my logic.

When Nissan GT-R came out, the first year they lost a lot of money on the launch control for fixing transmission ($18,000).
A $50K car with PTM & Launch Control, won't leave enough profit to make.
What'd they think was going to happen with all that torque, AWD, and 3900 pounds?...

I really hope these are one of the features that make it to ZL1. This will be another good technology to fight off the snake from Dearborn.

LOL! BOO!!! I noticed something like that this morning on Autoblog I think. Watch - we'll see a lot of Mustang guys say how good IRS is now that their little philly might get it. Seeing that it's getting smaller is interesting, too. Good catch

The ZL1 wouldn't be likely to suffer from the issues the gtr had. An AWD launch is faaarrrr more abusive to stock components on street tires than any rwd launch. I'm wondering about the axles and suspension components in the zl1 and how well they will handle launching with a stickier tire though. The half shafts could be an issue with wheel hop. Also, I'm wondering what will happen with LC once the ecu is cracked, if it will be easy to alter values.

Good point, IMVHO.

I remember reading a post about revised rear subframe bushings on certain '11 SS (probably V6 models, too) cars. I don't recall reading reviews or comments from said owners with the revised bushings (mostly because I don't know that they actually knew there were different bushings) so I wonder if these will be an improvement to control that cradle better.

I'll tell you one thing. Probably the first mod' for me will be bushings from front to back, because I don't want to worry about soft OEM ones. I don't want to sacrifice much in the way of NVH, however, I'd rather control the rear and keep it together. I'm VERY interested in this patented rear end.

I think it looks really good for a Mustang. We'll see what they actually come out with, but it looks promising.

That's a good plan. You're going to want to eliminate wheelhop at all costs. That's what kills suspension and trans components. Of course, we won't know how the stockers do until the car is released, but control arms will likely be a good mod to keep the rear together under hard launching conditions.
