The thread in the link above to me is a more important issue at heart than the problem with the panels in my opinion.. However every one of these issues is important and it is a healthy thing to be able to discuss it without name calling and so forth.. We got a message from Scott to calm down which means we at least got the message off about the issue. Since we got this message a few months ago, it seems nothing was done to correct the problem off the line. Let's hope this issue is fixed before it reaches the dealers...
That issue is being taken care of.

+1

The members saying the same type of info just get dismissed. Only when it comes from fbod will it end the subject. This happens WAY too much.

Hylton - we could have done that -- meaning, sending it thru a final inspection - but that would have meant that you and our other enthusiasts would not have had a chance to meet Rick or see the car.

This post is very unfair -- go look at the first post - -full of accusation that we'd be willing to let this car be delivered that way........and it implies that the team would think this was acceptable -- and sorry guys, but I take it personally when something like this happens. (where it's pretty much stated that we don't care about issues like these....)

Second -- we tried to do something nice for our enthusiasts who drove to Oshawa to celebrate a great day.........

I disagree, you don't close this thread and let it not be read by others. This forum has many members who have yet to read about this issue..

My main concern is about rattling after this issue gets fixed by a dealer if not by GM. However radz makes a point that new clips and retainers would be used if they did replace the panel..I would assume GM would also use new clips as well..

I HATE rattles and creaks!!! I don't blame anyone for not wanting to have the panels removed and reinstalled, but this is how things work, and that's why they're designed the way they are (IMHO).

The bottom line is it looks like no one who built THAT car has posted here, therefore anything is speculation. Yes - it should be fixed or adjusted (or replaced...). However, it sounds like people that work there know of the problem and are looking for it. I'm all for letting GM know what our opinions and observations are (hey - look at my sig'!!!) so that's why I'm not discouraging input; there needs to be constructive criticism; not just complaining, and I think that's where we are with this thread. I'm only asking everyone to try to keep things in perspective and remain respectful.
For those new to this thread,
Hylton made the first point as to why and how this problem occurred.

The process the Camaro goes through is that after it is painted (all panels are on it and checked for paint flaws/gaps/alignment) it goes to trim (fittings). When in trim, the doors are removed to allow the interior of the car to be completed.

While the doors have been removed, they go off and get fitted up with the window, window mechanisms, locking mechanisms, mirror, wiring, noise barrier and.....interior panel. Then, after the interior is complete, the doors come back and are rebolted to the car and the door wiring is hooked up. See how this problem arises?

The solution is to make sure all panels are EXACTLY alike in shape and form and that the mold is absolutely perfect - it's not right now. It could simply be the top pin mount being a bit off on the panel. If it was perfect, the panel would be perfectly aligned as soon as the assembler bolted the door back on and closed it. Again I say I believe it's the suppliers fault and not the assembler.
hylton makes the point this issue was identified and brought to GM's attention in the past.. The problem obviously still exists.

Just state that it is unacceptable and will be fixed shortly and be done with it instead of blaming "100 fans with their cameras". Or - state that it is normal and dealers should fix it so people can go off and ask Honda and Toyota dealers how many times they have to adjust the door panels.

We are here to make sure that the product you put out is outstanding. We want GM to build the best product out there. We are GM's biggest fans and we know what others are going to say or think. THIS SITE IS FINAL QC FOR THIS CAR AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE. I suggest anyone responsible for and/or working on this car remember that.

Remember something else Number 3 - most of the guys voicing their disappointment bought this car - think about that for a second. Makes a big difference compared to others who have no money down or haven't put their money where their mouth is. You will have no better marketers then all the guys who have chimed in with their disappointment. Be careful about blowing them off...
Scott chimes in to calm us down..

SOOOOOOOOOOO -- CALM DOWN!!!!!

NOW!!!!

It came off the line -- he drove it off the line -- it did NOT GO THRU INSPECTION BEFORE HE DROVE IT OFF THE LINE!!!!!!!!!!

HE DROVE IT OFF THE LINE -- -- he THEN drove it out to our enthusiasts -- drove it BACK INTO THE PLANT -- and it will go thru inspection!

I do not know if the door was open or closed - but I can tell you that we look for things like this in final inspection and they are corrected.

CALM DOWN!!!!

(....sorry - -but I keep getting emails all day long with the latest 'panic du jour' -- and I don't have the time to run over here every two hours.....)

CALM DOWN!!!

Let's go back to when SOMEONE leaked the first picture of a car without cammo -- remember the infamous white car?????........

THE WORLD WAS COMING TO AN END AS WE KNOW IT!!!!!! We were accused of everything including driving Teddy's car at Chappaquiddick and of course taking out Jimmy Hoffa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- and look at how you love the way the car turned out! How many people had strokes over a bad picture?????

I could list at least 6 dozen 'panics du jour' -- and EVERY ONE OF THEM was for naught............

CALM DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree the car should have gone thru a final inspection before it drove off the line..

Thanks Scott for chiming in and reading our posts. There is no disrespect from any of us towards you in this situation. And I don't think showing the car to the enthusiasts was a bad thing, it was very nice and the right thing to do. I think though you should address as to why this issue wasn't fixed since it was brought up months ago.. Perhaps it can't be fixed during production on the line and has to be fixed afterwords during final inspections.. In either case, you have to expect all of us on here to be hyper critical we wouldn't be enthusiasts if we weren't..

but in their defense CTF cars aren't going to paying customers. I have no doubt that my car won't have this issue by the time I go to get it.

edit. well I guess more like aren't going to customers yet....i'm sure by that time the issue would be fixed.

Hey its the internet, created for people to bitch anonomously like experts about topics they don't have 100% knowledge of, and easy access to billions of hours of porn.

There is a reason I didn't post in this thread, because logic dictated that the video of him DRIVING the car off the line means the car can't have any final QC.

No good deed goes unpunished, you do something nice for us, and we whine about a MINOR fitmient issue. That sucks and I think I speak for many of us in saying I'm sorry.

Thank you again for being the voice of reason Scott, I and others only wish that you could have gotten here 9 pages sooner, not your fault, you have more important things to deal with than BS like this.

YOU

ARE

RIGHT!

That's WHY we BUILD CTF CARS!!!

That is ALSO why we are NOT SHIPPING CARS YET!!!!!!!

BECAUSE WE ARE FIXING THEM!!!! We work with suppliers of the parts to ensure they are fixed right BEFORE WE SHIP THEM.

SO.........when someone starts complaining that we are not shipping the cars right away -- THIS IS WHY!!!!!

(sorry guys - but I'm outta time here - and I KNOW I should have more patience to explain all of this stuff to you -- and I KNOW how passionate you feel about this car -- but ONCE AGAIN -- I'm gonna repeat these words that I wrote about 8 years ago

HAVE FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(now -- I'm gonna go and take a blood pressure pill and try to calm down!!!)
