To the OP you sound like a power guy and if you are get the SS. You will regret the V6 and just want to trade up later. I have the V6 and its a great car for what I bought it for a top down cruiser and I have no regrets but if you crave all out power you will not be happy with it.

no one "needs" the extra power of the v8. it's there for fun. if you have it, you'll use it. but you won't ever need it unless you have to outrun a tornado or something, so that question is answered for you.
i think the price between the 2lt and 2ss is really pretty small. 5-6k just for a bigger engine seems a lot, but when you look at the whole cost of the car, 5k is an easy amount to spend to get the v8. that's just me though. |

Here's my 2 cents. I owned a 2LT RS for just under 2 years. It was snappy and fun as hell to drive but you know what i really really missed the sound of the V8. My next camaro will be a SS i wont even look at the V6 models this time. Thrillz

I drove all the V6 and V8 Camaro and Mustangs. Ended up with the manual v6. It handled better than the V8. I also knew I couldn't enjoy the V8 as much as I wanted because of traffic, speed cameras and cops in my area. If I lived in a rural area I would have gotten a v8. My car run 13.9s with minor bolt on mods. Still have some other bolt ons like ported TB I plan on when I have the time. So its not a bad trade off. Handling, Looks, Performance and decent Miliage.

Its a matter of preference. Its like asking 45 years ago...should I get a 327 or 396. If you wanted your stock 327 to run faster you had to tinker with it.

Merging into traffic at 70 is no problem for my 6 . Just slam it into 3rd and watch the front end raise up. Sure you need to change your exhaust and intake to open it up. The 6 is highly restrictive coming off the showroom floor. |

Also, again only my opinion..the sound of the V8 (albeit camaro, mustang). Just an opinion. Try the 6 and compare to the 8, and you make the choice. Either way you will be happy.

To the OP, like someone above said, everyone is going to tell you which car is better but all that matters is what you think when you drive them. Go test drive both and pick whichever one you think best fits you. People are always going to have their own biased answers and there is always going to be someone faster than you, so get what makes you happy. |

V6. beats the crap outta every other 6 six cylinder cars. V8 was pure sex, but I couldn't justify that extra power and the mileage for a car that would be driven daily.
the M6 does have more than enough power to leave me smiling every time I get in and till I get out of the car. |
