I'll say this: buyers remorse SUCKS! Especially on something as expensive as a car. For most people, a car purchase is the 2nd most expensive thing they'll ever buy besides a house. If there's even a hint that you may be unhappy with a V6, then get the SS. Of course only if you can afford it. It also sucks to have a car that you can barely afford

If your putting a kid through college, have 3 other car payments, and a fifth wheel payment, etc,etc..... My v6 does just fine then. And it isn't no pushover either.

Make a compromise: get a 2LT RS Convertible. Never wonder about anything else.

Most people, when they talk comparing the V6 and the SS, they are talking about power and performance. No offense intended, the V6 convertibles (heaviest of the V6 models) are probably the slowest of the whole Camaro line up. So one with a V6 convertible would wonder why one in a much cheaper base LS outruns him. But hey, at least you'll look great in the convertible.

Has anyone ever had someone look at their car and ask with big eyes if it is the V6? Doubt it. It's always, ALWAYS, Did you get the V8? Standard answer is "Yeah". Then "Cool!"
If the answer is "Nah, it's the V6....." Then, "Aww." THEN you get into the fuel economy, and it still has 300HP bit...
Half of the Camaros I have owned were V6's. Loved them all. They are not the same car without the power and rumble. Even when the IROCs were putting out a heart stopping 175HP, they were cool! V8 is an American Icon all by itself. It is the standard for "top of the heap".
I don't dog the V6s. They have their place and are great cars. Without a doubt, they are inferior to the V8s in most aspects.
If you can't afford the gas, the insurance, upkeep, payments, whatever, get the SIX!
If you don't care what others think, and love the style, get the SIX!
If you just want to own the baddest looking car around, get the SIX!
Now, if you want the sound, power, and ATTITUDE!, go for the SS.
It is a preference to whoever is making the payments. Period.

Will anyone care in 100 years?
No one, I mean NO ONE HERE, ever mentions the "spare tire". If you want to drive a car without a spare and wait for OnStar to bail you out, that's all fine and dandy. Whaddya do when your 5 years of "Roadside Assistance" is over??? Get the V6 convertible with a SPARE TIRE and don't worry about the rest.

Well, I be damned! Apparently, spare tire is a huge part in choosing which car to buy.

Good point. Plus, I've got one of those "rare" "problem free" 5th gen. 'verts.

And damned you shall be when you no longer have GM's "roadside assistance" and you're waiting on AAA to get to you. However, in all honesty, for some buyers it is / could be a factor. I just threw it in because no one ever mentions it.

It's amazing how the V8 crowd looks down their noses at the 6. The 6 is: Faster than my 383 Charger; Faster than my 01 Mustang GT; and if I remember the stats for the '66 426 Hemi Plymouth, it is faster 0-60 than that. Way better mileage than any either of the above. The V6 is no slouch, no matter what the SS crowd says. The issue will never be settled.

I own a v6. If you are questioning it now, get the v8. I have never heard anyone say they wished they got the v6 after buying the SS. I have heard the other way around...plenty of times.

Yes this and I own a V6 and I absolutely love the fact that it is a V6 but that's just me. I dig bursting ppl's bubble that it's not a V8 lol but again that's just me.
