Winter Driving

Anyone know if they put out info/review of driving the Camaro in the snow? I'm debating getting a 4 wheel drive car for snow, but regardless, I'm going to take the Camaro through this coming winter and see what she can do.

Get a set of snow tires, the RS summer ones won't cut it in locations with terrible winters

Hopefully by the fall there'll be more types available, but I'm not seeing alot of choices right now. No big deal since I can keep my 4X4, but I'd like to get rid of it and just drive the camaro.

If this helps? I drove my 2008 Corvette last winter without even buying snow tires.

We didn't have much snow so it wasn't an issue and hasn't been for the past few years..

Buying snow tires would do the trick for sure in my opinion..

Enjoy

I tend to agree with you. Alot of people giving advice haven't driven rear wheel drive cars since the 70s/80s and I think todays rear wheel drive, although still inferior to front wheel in bad weather, are much better than their predecessors.

Check out this thread. With those Pirellis, Driving in the cold or snow will not work.

I would not drive it in the winter. I used to drive a 911 carrerra as my everyday drive, and nearly was killed in a snowstorm. I was driving up a hill and the torque of to low of a gear threw me sideways into a large truck coming the other way. My two cents.

I drove my 3rd generarion Z-28 in the snow...ONCE. After spinning out of control and settling into a snowbank I got a cheap winter car and left the Camaro parked during snow days.

I've made a bunch of posts on this as the question has been asked often.

Number 3 with the stock all season tires was probably the best RWD car I've had in a Michigan winter. Driving to California began with a HUGE snow storm and we were fine.

The SS had Ice and Snow tires on it originally. Although we didn't drive it all winter, it was fine.

It is all tires basically. I wouldn't try it with the Summer Pirellis. They put summer in the name for a reason I think.

I have talked to a few who drove the CTF cars over the winter. GM put Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow on the cars for them and they claim they had no trouble driving them. They also said you have to adjust your driving of course and to keep in mind it is a low car. A lot of them said they were even driving in 8 - 10" of snow.
