I know Gm recommends changing the gear oil out something like after every 6 hours of continous track use on the ZL1, what do you think would be a suggested amount of time to change it out with normal every day driving?.

Man,in my manual it says change after every 24 hrs of track use.Since you only get a little more then an hour on the track, that would be like over 6 or 7 years...sigh!.I have had my car for about 10 months, and just turned 7000 miles.I know you have to take into consideration daily driving,i only drive mine about twice a week.

I usually do more than the manual since I live in the desert and my driving habits. I will do it at least once a year. I already have 5 hours on my fluid.

The additive actually promotes slip. You would drag the inside wheel around turns if it wasn't in there, or if there wasn't enough in there.

We maintain several Camaros that get tracked out here and we have been doing those cars at 10000 mile intervals or every 6 hours of track time (road course). After track time there is quite a bit of clutch material on the drain plug, if it goes to the 10k interval without a track day it comes out fairly clean.
One of our clients has over 70k on his original diff and axles with over 600 h.p. and he's fast without a failure, we're surprised on how often and how hard he runs without breaking. We have been using Torco SGO syn 75w90 with 2oz of the Torco GM additive with these results. When we service diffs we let them drain out for awhile and it takes 1.25 qts to properly fill. |
