Rough Idle
Ok I am using 91 Octane as that's the most prevalent here in Phx, but it still idles rough... did the fuse pull and that didn't help.
Let me specify rough... NOT a "motor's gonna stall" kinda rough, but the car will vibrate and then smooth out then vibrate and smooth out...just don't seem run smooth like a car with 2k on it should IMO... Something unusual or am i still just paranoid?? Thx guys!

![]() As long as it isn't having problems with stalling you should be OK. Mine does it too. |

I use 93 octane and I do not have that issue. A little vibration is normal, but what you're describing sounds odd. Assuming the the car is not ice cold and assuming that you don't have any engine/exhaust mods, I would suggest that you take it to your dealer.

Its worse when it's cold naturally, but when it warms up it still does the same thing, you feel a little bump left and right as it's idling... It just has an intake and muffler delete..

Check your CAI bolts and air sensor connection to make sure that they are tight.

That is one of the benefits of having a performance V8 with a nice cam. I love the rock and roll of a good V8 at idle/low RPM.
If you want a silky smooth car get a Cadillac.

It's a little sweet song I like to call "Lope"
![]() It's kinda fun to watch mine at a stoplight. The needle moves up and down between 500-800 RPM's. It's nice. Just wait till(if) you put a more aggressive cam in it. Oh the sound of that. ![]()

378 cubic inches
.550/.522" lift camshaft (with tame 204/211 degree and 117.5 LSA) 430+ hp Considering those numbers these engines idle quite well. A 377 or 383 stroker with those specs wouldn't idle quite as smoothly as the LS3. |
