The FIRST rule of parking is NEVER draw attention to yourself if you can help it. If you drive a beater with perfect bodywork, and you take up two spaces, you just earned yourself a bullseye. If you drive a car that draws attention all by itself, you do best to park far away and in stealth mode and that does not mean drawing attention to your car by taking up two spaces. It may work once or twice but eventually someone is going to get you.
I try to park far away. If a lone spot isnt available, I park next to an expensive car feeling that my odds are good the Bentley guy doesnt want to trade door paint. If you park out in the North 40 and still find a car next to you, chances are they respected your ride enough to consider you a safe neighbor. Its a dog eat-dog-world out there in the parking lot. Alot of good advice was passed along here. |

I hate when people say things like this, no offense, but seriously. Since I don't have a more expensive car such as a Ferrari I shouldn't care for my Camaro I guess. I do agree that taking up 2 spots is a little ridiculous though, 1 spot in no mans land is good enough for me.

As for this topic, just don't be disrespectful is my opinion. If it's close or a jam packed lot, use one space. If it's empty and you're in the back, use however many you want...but know some people will not like it. |

Go with one spot. There are two possible scenarios.
1) No one will park near you. In which case, taking up two spots was unnecessary. 2) Someone will park next to you. In which case, that parking spot was probably needed. This is the kind of situation where you draw a lot of unwanted attention. I personally wouldn't key a car, but I wouldn't be surprised to walk by a car in this situation and see fresh key marks. |

If the parking lot was busy and might fill up then no. But if its fairly empty I cant see how taking up a bit more space busts so many sets of balls on here. Get over it. Even if a lot is full its not worth keying a car because they took up 2 spaces. Hell I would need a new set of keys just for the people who are trying to park in one space but take up a quarter of the other. We should get VIP 2 space parking and make all the fatty's park 4 blocks away. They need the exercise. Win Win! (Guess I'll be parking a fair distance, faak. lol)
Moreso, anybody who touches somebody else's private property without the owners permission should get their fingers chopped off, one per offense. I bet we would see far less vandalism. And less freaking fingerprints on my car. |

I don't think that the VAST majority of people on this forum are driving "1932 push and go's". In fact, my guess is that we're all driving cars similar to yours if not MUCH nicer. We all take good care of our cars. Most folks who join an enthusiast's site are like that. I park out in the nosebleeds normally, but I never take up 2 spots. That's pure douchbaggery. There's always a chance that someone's gonna mess up your car, but taking up multiple spots - especially out in the back of the lot - is pure arrogance and just asking for problems from those folks who are haters because you have something nice. It's not saying that you're doing it out of arrogance, but that's how it's perceived. Anyway, that's all I got. Sorry if it was a repeat, but I couldn't help myself.

Never been pulled over for it. I live in a small town (16k people) and the LEO's are all good folks. They see the humor in it. I got the plate because my 10 year old son dared me to. I know, not the best reason to do something, but it was a double-dog-dare. You can't let that go by and not do anything about it...
