Trouble putting gear into Reverse!

So I have a manual, and I have never had trouble putting the car into any gears until tonight. I drove to my gf's house to go out to dinnner with her and her family, but when I wanted to reverse out of the driveway I just couldn't get the car into that gear. I pushed real hard to the right to get it going and as I was doing that I heard grinding and then finally it when up and into reverse.

Now I am worried. When I got back to her house I was fiddling with it again and each time it just didn't want to go into reverse and all I heard was grinding noises. Every other gear 1st-6th works just fine its only reverse giving me issues

What could be the problem?

I am taking the car to the dealership bright and early in the morning.

Thanks C5!

It's happened a few times with mine. Never the grinding part though. just put it in neutral and roll the car back a foot or two and try again? Or you can force it.

I didn't think anything of it more than a minor annoyance because I was able to get it to work fine the few times it happened to me.

Please let me know if the dealer finds anything.

You didn't to recently install a skip shift eliminator did you?
It's pretty common to accidentally plug it into the reverse lock-out by accident.

yeah I recently installed a skip shift eliminator. but I don't think I plugged it into the wrong one. I looked up install pics and made sure I plugged it into the correct wire.

I'll jack the car up in the morning and change the skip shift eliminator into a different plug

When I installed my skip shift eliminator I put it on the wrong plug and I had the same symptoms as you. It should be in the center drivers side up toward the top of the tranny. If you installed it into a lpug toward the rear of the tranny that's the wrong one!

I’m also having issues w/ my 2010 Camaro. When reversing I hear a grinding sound and then like a winding up sound. I hear a grind, but I don’t actually feel it on the shifter like normally you would when missing a gear.
