2010 SMS 620 Camaro to debut in Detroit NAIAS — first photos

SMS Supercars (Steve Saleen’s company) has just announced the debut of their 2010 SMS 620 Camaro at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, along with the car’s first images (Full press release and images here). The SMS 620 Camaro will be sold as part of the SMS SIgnature Series, which includes other cars such as the SMS 570 Challenger and SMS 460 Mustang.
Design wise, the most notable exterior element is the functional SMS Red Butterfly Dual Side Induction Hood. The interior features high performance guages and Alcantara / leather SMS performance seats with Signature Series chevron stripes.
The SMS 620 Camaro utilizes a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine featuring 575hp / 600tq. There will also be a 620X Camaro vesion, with supercharger, new internals and CNC headwork, bumping up the power to 715hp / 700tq. Both a 6 speed automatic and manual option will be available. Acceleration is expected to be 0-60 in under 4.3 seconds for the 620 Camaro and close to 4.0 seconds for the 620x Camaro. In addition to engine output, handling, road holding and braking improvements, the 620X will feature options such as Magneto-Rheological Semi-Active Dampers and Torvec Isotorque Differential and 21″ rear wheels. Both will offer new SMS 16″ 8-piston front and 14″ 6-piston rear brakes
The SMS 620 and 620X Camaros are scheduled for a market launch in the second quarter of 2010.
